Source: Parker tells Niners that Crabtree will re-enter draft

Unbeleivable. He is just wrong on so many different levels if he does this. This should not be allowed or an option for rookies to do. There should be a set salary for each rookies position and that is what they make their first year and then they can get paid and sign a contract for their proformance and need for there team.

Some of the comments/responses after the article were funny but a few made some good points.

This is merely a negotiating ploy. There is no way Crab is going to sit around for a year with no team and no pay check.

He will sign. What total BS>

Yup, and that agent is prolly a lawyer. Think he is gonna wait another year to get paid. LOL

As well as there being an excellent chance that he wouldn't even be the agent by then. When Crabtree realizes how foolish he was, he'll blame the agent and fire him..........

Here's the rub. He KNOWS he was the best Wr out there. He also knows his injury killed his value. So he WANTS the top dollar amount. However, he forgets this is the NFL and the draft picks are basically slotted.

Sooooooooo................................
He either gets his agent to take what he can get...or he sits for a year. The sad part is I agree with most here...he won't go that much higher if higher at all next year...and still won't get the $s.

Sheesh...what a year this is shaping up to be.

Even when he doesn't mean to, Al Davis screws over the Niners. If Al had taken Crabtree like he should have, SF would have taken about 2 seconds to draft Orakpo and they wouldn't be dealing with this crap...........

In Crab's position, I'd walk into my agent's office and beat the everloving shit out of him if he pulled this. Then I'd drag him outside, do it again, and very publicly fire his ass. IMO, players don't understand the concept of their agents being their employees, not their employers, and it gets them this crap.

non issue IMO, it will not happen.....if Crab is stupid enough to do this he deserves what he would get, but he thinks he slip this year??? Wait till next year if he sits out a year.....can we say Mike Williams......

Crab, get your ass in camp and sign the deal for the slot you were picked......this is what happens when you do not slot rookies, this is one area where the NBA is light years ahead of the NFL.

I heard that Crabtree's agent has already retracted those comments and says Crabtree will not be re-entering the NFL draft in 2010.

Even so, this certainly doesn't give anyone encouragement about Crabtree's NFL future or his work ethic. He is in it for the money at this point and not as concerned with his playing legacy.

Can Crabtree do this, Dont the 49ers have some sort of rights to Crab. :headscratch:

Never heard of such a thing

I do not understand your position. Why shouldn't he have the right to negotiate a contract like everyone else? Just because a team drafts him he should become their indentured servant (I am keeping a straight face as I type this - I should be so indentured) for 1 or more years?

If a player does not sign by end of year...he can go back into the draft. It has never been done I don't believe..but it is doable. NFL rule.

I think it was done once before and the guy dropped like a stone. He was drafted on day 2 of the draft and signed for a fraction of what he would have made the first year. He also didn't make the team. I heard this on ESPN tonight.
