Miami - Jauquin Iglesias is definitely a solid pick here. With what I believe Miami needs is a guy with great hands and runs good routes. Iglesias will go across the middle and is a high character player. The fact that he lasted til the end of the second round surprisese me and thus I think you got great value for him. Solid pick!
Baltimore - This is a match made in heaven. Barwin is a young, tough nosed, blue collar kid that will play wherever he is needed. He can play down and rush the passer or take on as a LB and assist the great corps Baltimore has, even though they lost Bart Scott. Barwin was an unknown commodity but after the combine, he's growing onto draft boards. He was very productive and flocks to the ball. He'll thrive in the Baltimore scheme. Lets hope they dont change too much with Rex Ryan going to New York.
New England - Sorry that this might have made some mad, but this is a good pick, nice value and fills a nice need. Linebacker was a great strength with Bruschi, Seau, and Vrabel. But now the Pats have to usher in a new youthful breed of LB in an attempt to continue their winning ways without much transition. That started last year with Jerod Mayo. Now Phillips comes in, a tremendous worker. This kid was ridiculously productive and led a great defensive unit. He rarely is ever outworked and I think will be a great star, a la Zach Thomas, in the NFL.
Carolina - Talk about the perfect situation. The Panthers desperately need a QB to take over for Delhomme. The fact that Freeman lasted past the first few second round picks was a surprise. I thought about taking him with Minnesota, but with Sage Rosenfels and Tarvaris Jackson next year, plus the QB crop next year being alot deeper, I thought it best to take a different route. Freeman is reminiscent of Daunte Culpepper, although maybe not as productive. He's a huge kid with a live arm and I imagine will contend for a starting spot by mid season.
New York - I took Brian Robiskie for one reason....what the hell do we know about Plaxico. Burress may not be available for the season so the Giants had to look at talent at WR. Robiskie is tall, rangy, and deceptively fast. At 6-3, 210, and a 4.48 40, he could easily line up aside Smith and Boss and give Manning a three headed passing monster. His height and a nar 38" vertical should make him an impact in the red zone as well. He's not an elite reciever, but the best left available with the skill set that is needed.
