Palmer selling his house, ready to retire if not traded

good luck....I know right where his house is and in this market, it will sit for a while, which he knows.....

IMO, he's not going anywhere and he's not retiring....if he does retire, then the Bengals are better off b/c it means he has no fire and drive to be the best and they are better going in another direction then to continue to struggle without a real leader. My guess is it's a bluff and he'll be back next year.

I really can't understand his urgency to leave the Bengals after they canned their no offense OC and brought in new blood to try and jump start the team there. Second while I'm sure there is a market for a #1 QB out there I think he's selling himself a bit high in his own mind. It's been a while since he was at the top of his game.

If he's really willing to retire, I think it will only lower his value with another team.....going gets rough and Palmer just quits????is that someone you want to "lead" your team and pay the amoutn of money he is still owed?

Once a player starts talking about retirement, its time to find another to play his position. If he has no "fire" he really isn't the guy that I would want leading my team.
I'd say the Bengals would be wise to pick up as many draft choices as possible for this guy and either bring someone else in or get their #2 ready for everyday play.

This has Bret Favre writen all over it. He's good enough someone will pick him up but on the cheap side. After the past few years i cant see any team paying top dollar for him right off til he proved himself. AGAIN. He can come to Jax all he wants. I would welcome him here since i think he is a step up from Gerrard. Just for a short time answer tho and definitly not the playmaker wanted when it comes to crunch time. Hey we never know, a change of pace in a different system might bring back the old Palmer from years back that was very effecient and a winner. Somebody will take a chance on him. Too many teams need an expereinced QB for next year.

Okay, here is strictly my point of view.

First, he wants to live in CA, and has bought either property and is building or a home out there, it was published earlier.
Second, he wants to cut ties with Cincy, so since he is moving his family anyways, he is using this as leverage.

I do believe he might retire. He only has to be retired for a full year i believe to be able to come back as a FA. He is tired of Cincy and wants to leave.

For me, this is entertaining, it comes down to who is more stubborn, M.Brown or Palmer.

I hope the Raider top brass is paying attention, with Campbell the starter nothing but upside if Palmer jumps ship

He is under contract through the 2014 season. If he retires and comes back before then he will still be under contract with Cincinnati. Not sure where you are getting the one year thing, I have never heard of that. I am pretty sure he would have to sit out the rest of his contract. If you could just sit out a year and then be a free agent, Vincent Jackson would have "retired" and been a FA this year....

Would you take a chance at him knowing J'Ville would have to trade some sort of draft pick for him plus pick up the rest of his contract which has 4 more years and a ton of money left on it?

The going is never going to get better with your current owner. I dont blame him, as Barry Sanders retired for much the same reasoning.

I can see several teams out there for him like:

Minnesota
Seattle
Arizona
Jacksonville
Carolina
Tennesee

Miller: If you had to lose Palmer....what would you think about getting a guy like Joe Webb or Jimmy Clausen to try and run your offense.

Yes, but your Saints have competent leadership. Even the Cowboys and Texans try to win.

This Brown guy dont make a whole bunch of sense. If you have to lose Palmer, maybe a guy like Webb would work with a guy like Gruden who is accustomed to the lower talent guys in the AFL anyway

Well Clausen would probably die regardless, but like I said, Gruden knows how to work with lower levels of talent.

Joe Webb to me is an exciting prospect, with the only limitation to him being a productive mid range starter being the guy coaching him. Webb can run, which would add a dynamic the other teams in that division dont have, and perhaps something the Bengals could use to their advantage, plus they would be sending Palmer out of their conference.

Now Im not sure past Webb what the Vikings could offer the Bengals for Palmer, but its interesting.
