Favre Drama Begins

Cerberus

In Dog We Trust
Its a sad time in football when what i consider one of the best QBs in history, when its all said and done, will be known as a drama queen at the end of his career.

This is the 83rd post on this subject this season and it comes at a slow time of the year. If nothing else his antics give us something to moan about.

When you take into consideration the level he played at last year, and how his body must have felt after the season was over, you think you might understand his dilema a little better. I'm 50, and since the age of 40, if I tripped walking across the backyard it hurt, and I felt it the next day. Now take a couple 100 blows from 250+pound NFL football players driving you into the ground, or a guy like Sharper grabbing your foot and doing an alligator spin at 40, and tell me how you feel. He doesn't want to go to camp. The team knows it and they are fine. HE HURTS, and he should! There are other selfish type NFL players involved here, and they are giving the old man a pass. I think we can all temper our feelings a bit and realize if it is okay with AP, Jared, Sydney, Kevin, Pat and Childress, then it's not really a story. We live in a 24 hour news loop. ESPN is waiting on his front step like a lost puppy. Brett is gonna have some fun with it. That's his nature.

I just wish they would come out and say Yes, he's coming back....No, he won't be at TC....

No issues with it.

This touches on the point here. Favre is great and he is coming off an injury and doesn't wish for the rigors of training camp. At this point of his career we would all give him a pass on training camp to to have him play on our team.

There is no drama here, he is doing it the way he needs to. The way The Vikings are forcing him to do it. It is the Vikings that are forcing the drama here not Favre. All the Vikings need to do is say that Favre doesn't have to report to camp until just before preseason. It would be over immediately, no drama, Favre would say he is returning. It is the Viqueens who are the drama queens here.

Put it in his contract if you have to. I like Favre watch every year though. Even if I do know the eventual outcome.

rotoworld,
WDAM TV in Hattiesburg reports that Vikings coach Brad Childress is in Mississippi Monday to visit with Brett Favre.

Childress arrived in Hattiesburg on Sunday night. Asked his reasons for the trip, Childress replied "You can fill in the blanks." He said he doesn't know how long he'll stay down south. Childress will likely ask Favre about his surgically repaired ankle, while reconfirming his plans for 2010. It's widely presumed that Favre will report to Vikings training camp in mid-to-late August.

Our news here, in Pensacola, has been full of reports on Favre's workouts and just as you indicated, Brad Childress was in today. I think it a safe assumption that Favre will be the starter, ankle willing. Since he isn't due to report to training camp until mid to late August that still leaves the rest of the team in practice sessions with a QB other than Favre, for most of the training camp. Granted, this is the same team that played together last year and no one would logically expect less than their continued success, but I still have to wonder how much better they would be if Favre joined the team sooner in summer camp. Not so much for Favre's benefit, but for the receivers etc. The season opener is with the Saints (daja vou).

It has a single AA battery on top that stays charged from the sun. I've wore that hat to many public places and it always gets lots of stares and several comments.

cbssports.com,
Brett Favre tells USA Today that he did not discuss a deadline for making a decision on returning this season during a recent visit with Minnesota Vikings coach Brad Childress. Favre told the newspaper Childress came to visit him in Hattiesburg, Miss., on his way home from vacation in Florida. The two chatted as they did around this time last year, but Favre still has not made a decision on returning for a 20th NFL season. The Vikings open training camp on July 30. Favre says he thinks the world of Childress and the two shared a laugh about butting heads in December over the direction of the offense. "Our visit was great," Favre told the newspaper. "I think the world of him (and) his patience. He and I joked about how there were some rocky times (between them) last year. ... We're both competitors, that happens."
Analysis: Favre had ankle surgery earlier his summer and says it "is not where I would like it to be." Favre injured his ankle in that game and had surgery on it earlier this summer and has been throwing to receivers at Oak Grove High School near his home while to test it out. We expect Favre to return, and his ankle should be fine for the start of the season. Favre will likely drag this out as long as possible, so don't expect him to be in training camp until the end of two-a-day practices. That's what Favre did last season, and he had a phenomenal year. We still like Favre as a low-end No. 1 Fantasy QB. He has tremendous weapons in Sidney Rice, Percy Harvin, Bernard Berrian and Visanthe Shiancoe, and the talent in Minnesota should help Favre succeed. He's worth a mid-round pick in all formats.
