Big Ten vs Pac 10 Pro's

So can programs in the other conferences. My point is the Big Ten is at a comparative disadvantage than other conferences geographically. Some parts of Big Ten country are talent rich, but there is much more competition for that talent. The Big Ten not only has to fend off other conferences...

    What Should Texas Do?

    This is a few years old, but I bet the #s have not changed much: Toughest schedules over 10 year period (ending 2005 or 2006 I think) 1). Stanford 12.78 2). USC 13.22 3). UCLA 14.56 4). Florida State 14.78 5). Washington 15.56 6). Notre Dame 16.44 7). Colorado 17.44 8). Michigan...

    What Should Texas Do?

The SEC is better at the top, no question. They are not better at the bottom. The Pac-10 is significantly more better at the bottom. Look at on field results & talent level. Show me a link to someone who believes the SEC is the best top to bottom? That is not something you hear often...

    What Should Texas Do?

Please recap that part, I must of missed it. Were you arguing the PAc-10 was better this whole time? I am the one providing the facts. If you really believe playing 13 MAC/1-AA teams is better than playing Oklahoma, Ohio State, LSU, Boise State, Notre Dame, etc., then please explain why...

Big Ten vs Pac 10 Pro's

Not going to make my talent base case for me. Dang! Florida's Steve Hutchinson, California's Tom Brady, Texas's Drew Brees (who's dream school growing up was WAZZU & joined former WAZZU assistant Joe Tiller at Purdue). Big Ten is dependent on importing elite players from outside the region...

    What Should Texas Do?

Compare the sports that Texas takes seriously (i.e. not hockey & women's lacrosse where the Big Ten is strong) & the Pac-10 still comes out waaaaay on top. Every time I do the #s, what is, more than twice the # of championships? When I calculate the head to head, we win at over a 60% clip...

    What Should Texas Do?

Since you refuse to look at on the field success to gauge the strength of the programs, talent is the next logical place to compare. Plus it gives a little added insight to why the bottom of the SEC hasn't been able to compete at an elite level.

    What Should Texas Do?

Looks like you are admitting defeat. Lame. I'd give up too if I had to rationalize Indiana's lame, creampuff ridden schedule & the Big Ten's hidden secret of regularly missing good teams in conference. Washington has played Ohio State the same amount of times the last 3 years as Indiana...

    Pac-10 expansion

Heed your own advice. Geographically, culturally, the Pac-10 is a better fit than the Big Ten or SEC. When you are looking at those maps, look at a climate map. Climate wise Austin is in the west, not south. Culturally it is more western than southern. The SW is hot & dry. Tucson, Tempe...

    What Should Texas Do?

Look at NFL production if you won't take my word for it. The bottom teams in the Pac-10 have had better seasons & produce more NFL players than the bottom of the SEC. The reason the SEC is the best conference isn't because of the bottom, it is because of the 6 great programs at the top.

    What Should Texas Do?

Read my above post. It is easier putting together a winning record not playing Ohio State & Michigan and playing 11 of the 12 non-con games vs. 1-AA teams or MAC teams. I post it again, maybe you will read it this time: Washington the last 3 seasons: 9 conference games each year...

    What Should Texas Do?

Again 9 conference games vs. 8 conference games. Toughest schedule in the nation vs. not the toughest schedule in the nation. Look at Washington for example: 9 conference games each year +Ohio State, +Oklahoma, +LSU, +Notre Dame(x2), +BYU, +Boise State, +BCS bowl bound Hawaii. That's just...

    What Should Texas Do?

There is a difference between best & deepest. The top 6 of the SEC are super elite programs. No other conference has that much strength at the top. But in the SEC you have 6 weaker programs. The bottom of the SEC is weaker than the bottom of the Pac-10 & Big Ten.

    What Should Texas Do?

When two good teams play each other, one has to lose. If you play a weak schedule. the chances of you losing diminish. Look at the #s, the Pac-10 plays the toughest schedule by far! Big Ten is #2, but an average rank of 10 points lower! Did you look at the s.o.s, #s I posted?

    What Should Texas Do?

What conference is deeper? The SEC goes 6 deep. Pac-10 goes 10 deep. Big Ten has Indiana, which is garbage. Big 12 has Iowa State and Baylor. ACC has Duke. Who is deeper? Why? Do you know the Pac-10 has a winning record the last 10 years vs. the Big Ten, SEC, Big East, & ACC? And we...

    What Should Texas Do?

It is easier to make the top 10 with an easier schedule. The Pac-10 plays 9 conference games a year, in the deepest conference, plus the toughest non-conference schedule. Meanwhile in the Big Ten, a team like Iowa can go two years in a row without playing either Ohio State or Michigan.
