Sarge's Take on Possible Superconference Breakdowns

Throw them out & it still works. Just focus on the BCS conferences. I think I figured out how to make 4 Super Conferences. I didn't add any teams to the SEC because they already have 6 elite football programs. Adding a Florida State or Miami to the SEC will make them even top heavier...

    Tomlinson released by San Diego

I don't think timing is an issue. Since Tim Ruskell is out of a job, Tomlinson will probably be on the shelf until a team gets hit with injuries at RB right around training camp time.

Sarge's Take on Possible Superconference Breakdowns

At worst, they could snag Utah & Colorado, but that still doesn't work alignment wise. I am thinking the Pac-10 goes 14+, or stays at 10. The bigger these conferences get, the more they will become like two separate conference within a larger one. The more I think about it, the more I think...

Sarge's Take on Possible Superconference Breakdowns

Neither the Pac-10 or Big Ten will accept non-research institutions into their conference. UC Davis has a better shot at the Pac-10 than Boise State. That is why the Pac-10 is looking at Utah & the Big 12.

    What Should Texas Do?

THEN QUIT SPINNING MY WORDS AROUND! Holy cow, you are something else. For how many posts were you trying to goat me into saying something that 99% of college sports fans already understand and assume that others already understand? What next, trying to get me to say the earth is spherical...

How do you fix the Big 12?

The Big 12 is in trouble if you haven't been paying attention. The north-south split is ripping the conference apart. I know you hate tangents, but this is relevant to this thread: One solution to fix the Big 12 is dump the north-south split and go to a "zipper" system. That way the...

    What Should Texas Do?

You are spinning things around in your head. You are making assumptions and taking things out of context. Exactly, you are not following the discussion close enough. NO S__T! DID YOU JUST FIGURE THIS OUT WHEN YOU READ THE ARTICLE LAST WEEK!?! THAT'S THE CASE AT ALMOST EVERY SINGLE SCHOOL...

    What Should Texas Do?

The obvious caveat: unless it hurts football or men's basketball. That better? I thought this was already addressed / widely assumed already. A move to the Pac-10 won't hurt football or basketball. Since those sports are ok, how well do the other sports fit? This is where the Pac-10 really...

    What Should Texas Do?

That is one of the Pac-10's geographical disadvantages. I brought it up in the SEC conversation. The reason is because most bowls are back east and is want tie-ins with conferences near by so they can sell as many tickets as possible. So eastern smaller bowls prefer eastern & southern...

    What Should Texas Do?

No, it is not going to be a one year deal. The intention is for it to be a long term deal. And it isn't happening in 2010 and probably not even 2011. I know that is not what you are saying above, but just looking at the near term is foolish. Looking at the de#s today, right now, the Pac-14...

    What Should Texas Do?

And if that is equal, what is the 2nd most important factor? Texas is a better fit in the Pac-10 for all sports, football included. Looking at the demographics, if the Pac-10 adds Texas, we should be able to command as much if not more than the Big Ten. We already covered this way earlier...

Bethel (WA) to play Odessa-Permian, twice?

^ No question they will destroy them. Even if we sent our top tier teams like Skyline, Bellevue, or Lakes, I still don't like our chances. Maybe Bellevue from a half decade ago when they were beating De La Salle and Long Beach Poly, but not now.

That $20,000,000 is the "profit" from "ticket sales, fundraising and logo licensing fees." Texas football generated $45,000,000 more than Oklahoma football did in 2008. Why is that? Hint: donations. That is also how Texas and many of the other elite programs build/improve their athletic...

    What Should Texas Do?

What about Pitt? They have had recent & historical success at football & have been pretty good at basketball of late. If you can't get ND, Pitt, WVU, & Nebraska would work just fine. Missouri & Kansas are also being mentioned.
