I'm a bit surprised by this move as well. Jackson was obviously not making the progress that the team wanted him to make, but he is an outstanding athlete. Maybe he'll catch on as a specialist somewhere?
Football season ended?
Seriously, I'm not a big fan, but I understand the "withdrawl" that fans go through. Baseball is my sport and I'll be watching as much as I can, if for nothing else than to take my mind off my little problem.
Twins got a new stadium and its great. The Vikes have had stadium deals in place, only to have local politicians drop the ball. They had a great deal in place to build a stadium, shopping mall, and a hotel or 2 only to have local sewer and water people refuse to back it. The Vikes could share...
In a way, this sounds like someone just trying to get money from Jones for no good reason. The ticket-holders that weren't allowed into the stadium have a legitimate beef, but the others probably don't.
Once a player starts talking about retirement, its time to find another to play his position. If he has no "fire" he really isn't the guy that I would want leading my team.
I'd say the Bengals would be wise to pick up as many draft choices as possible for this guy and either bring someone...
Some people think that Bo Jackson would have been a Hall of Fame baseball player if he hadn't played football and gotten himself hurt doing so. Maybe this kid realizes that the average football player plays only 2-3 seasons, whereas in baseball it is 5-6 years. He has a better chance to earn...
It was "the thing" to do in the early 1980's when it was built. I never liked the place as a baseball stadium, but it isn't a bad place to watch football, or so I'm told.
Another reason the Vikes might leave Minnesota, though.

The contractors have about 6 weeks to get the place ready for TwinsFest.
It sucks for those Vikings' fans who won't be able to use their tickets. Will they get their money back? It also sucks for the vendors that work the games. They won't have any income this week.
