Wes Welker news (PUPed) and now UnPUPed

Yikes!!

The Patriots have placed Wes Welker (knee, shoulder) on the active/Physically Unable to Perform list to open camp. Analysis: 98.5 the Sports Hub's report that Welker would be medically cleared by now has been proven wrong. Still, Mike Reiss of ESPN Boston describes the move as "procedural," and Welker is eligible to come off active/PUP at any time. His progress is still worth monitoring daily for fantasy purposes. He'll be a candidate for reserve/PUP to begin the season if he doesn't practice in camp.

NFL Network insider Michael Lombardi reported Tuesday that wide receiver Wes Welker has been placed on active/physically-unable-to-perform list by the New England Patriots.
Welker will be evaluated regularly and can be taken off of the active PUP list any day. This contrasts with the reserve PUP list, which requires a player to miss at least six regular-season games. The Boston Herald reported Sunday that Welker would be ready for the full opening of Patriots camp, which is Wednesday. When Welker is removed from the active PUP list, he would count against the Patriots' roster limit of 80 players.

rotoworld,
Wes Welker (knee, shoulder) is still expected to be ready to go come Week 1, according to the Boston Globe.

Here we go again. Although Welker is on the active/PUP list, the Globe is sticking by their story that the slot machine could play in a playoff game if there was one today. The paper says that he's not working out at practice right now to protect Welker against himself no one expects him to be on the reserve/PUP to begin the year. A similar report to this last was debunked by the Boston Herald and ESPN's Mike Reiss, so take this with a grain of salt. Still, it's looking more and more likely that Welker will be there when the Pats play the Bengals in Week 1.

I was hoping this was the case. They just don't want to injure him for something like TC. He's a vet, therefore doesn't necessarily NEED to be working out right now. Best bet is to rest him as much as they can. That eases my nerves a bit.

New England Patriots WR Wes Welker (knee) worked out with team trainers on the side Thursday, July 29, reports Christopher Price, of WEEI.com. He went through sprints and worked with a resistance rope.

Welker's status is being monitored closely by the team as he's on the PUP list to open up camp. They could choose to activate Welker at any time, but may watch him for a week or so before they do that to make sure he's fully healthy.

rotoworld,
Wes Welker (knee/shoulder) will come off the active/PUP list and practice on Sunday.

Coming off the PUP list is the first training camp step toward being ready for Week 1. Welker has passed his physical just over six months after ACL surgery. Although he's reportedly looked excellent in side work at camp so far, we'd still expect the slot machine to be eased back into practices. Nevertheless, it's looking increasingly likely that we'll see Welker come opening day.

"Its An Outrage"
If W.Welker is even 90% productive is much much better than most WR's

What a great recovery from what looked like a long term knee injury.
