UPDATE: Schefter reporting Brandon Marshall asked to be traded

If Marshall is gone, I will be officially jumping off the Orton bandwagon and staying as far away from anything Denver as i can. What is going on, Doogie trying to set a record for the quickest destrustion of an NFL team in league history?

I wouldn't jump off Neckbeard's bandwagon however you have to manage expectations. He could be a decent option at QB2. I never considered him starting material unless swayed with some solid pre-season action, but that may have been just me.

To the point of Doogie destroying the franchise I believe he is dedicated to destroying everything The Rat built. After a few months of observing him it seems pretty obvious he's determined to do it "his way". So yes he's doing everything in his power to make as extreme a departure from the Bronco's recent past as possible. I'm amazed he hasn't called a press conference, invited Elway to sit next to him, and when the cameras are rolling pull out a #7 jersey, light it on fire and put out the blaze by urinating on it while calling John a big poosay and flipping him the bird at this point.

I'd expect Orton to have Brady numbers ala pre-Moss/Welker. If you remember (and I do as a former Brady owner) the knock on Brady was that he was a dink and dunk quarterback with a noodle-arm. Very similiar to what is being written about Neckbeard. Just sayinsall'.

Good stuff. Love the neckbeard take as well.

But will the offense lose the overall production or will it be further distributed among the rest of the players?

NE had a nice crew of middle quality WRs where they could distribute the ball to several without a serious drop off from 1 WR to the next. If Marshall is gone you have Royal/Gaffney/Stokley with a deep drop in talent behind them. McKinley could eventually prove to be a valid option but do you think Grimes, Swift, Taylor and Willis are ready to contribute on a regular basis?

Trading Marshall may also be another case of addition by subtraction, depending on the return.
He seems to like Florida, so call TB and ask for Michael Clayton and a decent 2010 pick for him. Same with Miami or Jacksonville, all 3 are WR-needy teams.

How about turning THIS negative into a positive, unlike the Cutler fiasco.

According to profootballtalk.com, "rumors are flying" that Brandon Marshall could ultimately land with the Ravens.

After speculating about Boldin and Plax all offseason it sounding like Marshall will be providing the second big offseason WR move.

I hope this is false on two fronts. One, the last thing I want is a legit WR in Baltimore. Two, this would hurt his fantasy value significantly and since I have him in hired guns this will piss me off....

[whisper]Ram already posted this.....;) [/whisper] :eek:bvious:

I got to agree with Ram...in that the precident was set with Cutler...although the story on PFT points out that Marshall has NO leverage at all. NONE. Still, if they could get picks and a decent Wr in return......not sure just getting rid of Marshall isn't an addition by subtraction.

I will not argue that Marshall is a beast on the field...but I think he is a ticking time bomb...and will be suspended some time soon for all his off field stupidity.

lloyd is a pretty good pickup for this team, imo . . . he is somewhat inconsistent and has trouble staying on the field, but when he is on the field, he is a solid target and has some playing/practice time with orton as well . . . ;)

i've had marshall in a keeper league for the past 3 yrs (our initial draft was 3 yrs ago) and although i really appreciate his fantasy pts, his off the field issues lower his value too much to even think about a ff trade . . . i've never been a fan of a wr moving to another team and one could include switching qb's and systems on the same team . . . i still think marshall is a stud wr, but i probably wouldn't list him in my top 10 wr's this year no matter who he plays for . . . maybe not even top 15 . . . ;)

Broncos | Agent confirms Marshall asked to be traded Tue Jun 16, 01:30 PM

Bill Williamson, of ESPN.com, reports the agent for Denver Broncos WR Brandon Marshall, Kennard McGuire, did confirm Tuesday, June 16, to ESPN's Michael Smith that Marshall asked team owner Pat Bowlen for a trade during a meeting Friday, June 12.

Our view: 'There was a meeting with Mr. Bowlen and Brandon did ask to be traded. He was told by ownership that the team would do everything in its power to accommodate those wishes. We do feel that a change of scenery is not only important but necessary.' According to a source, Smith reported, Marshall has met with Bowlen more than once in the past week and on both occasions expressed his desire to be dealt.

I like Bowlen's attitude. He doesn't want anybody who doesn't want to be there. It means he's an owned dedicated to building a real team.

Bowlen always seemed to be a stand up guy from what little I've heard. I would say his attitude is more along the lines that "I may have f---ed up how I went about replacing Shanny but I am going to see it through."

Talk about having to start over.

Marshall already saying his good-byes - NFL - Yahoo! Sports

Marshall's already saying goodbye. A bit premature, no?

Yup. He's got jack and squat for leverage. Denver sports community is pretty suspect of Doogie right now. "Arrogant" has been passed around as the best description of him at the moment.

With Marshall folks are pretty much decided he needs to go. Great talent but a bad apple. Joe Bronco fan isn't as interested in Marshall being gone (my guess is most have written off this season already) but what kind of value Doogie gets from him in trade.

So far McDaniels has been blind to the defense and is gorging himself on bit players on offense. If he goes out and gets a young dominant pass rusher for Marshall Doogie will redeem himself in the eyes of some fans. If he goes out and gets Josh Cribbs and some picks (one of the scenarios) he will be an Epic Fail. Not that Cribbs isn't a playmaker on special teams but special teams isn't a need for the Donks. That move in addition to signing every mutt off the street to play on offense and long snap points to a greater problem than Doogie's preference to be a bad ass rather than attempting to retain talent.

This is getting bad. Moved Marshall straight up for Housh in a redraft with no regrets. Just don't need the uncertainty at this point.................

Bowlen may be a stand up guy, but..

To fire a good head coach and replace him with somebody that has no track record at the position (clearly an attempt to save money since he still owes the Rat), new coach virtually runs franchise QB out of town, and now the top receiver (possibly the best in the league) wants out.

Marshall can use whatever reasons he wants, but Cutler getting shafted has to play a big part. No way Marshall wants to go into the last year of his contract in Denver, with the downgrade that just took place at the QB position.

Cutler getting shafted

If Cutler got shafted he was the cause. No fan of the new regime but Cutler created his situation because he didn't like the change and feared it was not a match made in heaven for him.
