New England vs. Indy - Inflategate?!?!?

So per stories on PFT and ESPN and a few other sources, this one actually has legs.

per the report the interception by Indy in the 2nd qtr the Lb kept the ball, and showed it to his coach showing how the ball was under inflated. The coach brought the news to HC Pagano, who promptly notified GM, who called the league office. League office notified officials on the field, and multiple balls were grabbed for testing. Per reports the one ball was under inflated, but no data yet has been stated on the others tested.

IF this is true, and is proven, this could potentially cost the Patriots draft picks, as well as fines.

Is this the next way for N.E. to cheat??

I understand that the Patriots broke the rules in the past, that Belichick is someone who will push any advantage he can get putting him in the cross-hairs anytime something fishy happens but seriously this makes no sense that they'd do this on purpose. The officials handle and place the ball after every play and they didn't notice anything until it was brought up. And wouldn't they notice a difference in the balls NE used versus those from IND during the game? More non-Patriots handle their footballs than they do. How in the world would anyone think they'd get away with intentionally deflating only their footballs. Makes no sense.

Apparently 11/12 were deflated that they tested.

Aaron Rodgers said that they play with deflated balls. ( I can hardly contain myself)

Who fn cares.

Deflated footballs are not the reason Indy let NE score 3 rushing tds.

Deflated Patriot footballs didn't cause Indy to have a absolutely horrid offense.

Less than stellar balls did not decide this game.

11/12 is from a "source" per Mort. I want to see the final report from the NFL because this would make even less sense to me. How in the world could all the officials not notice that pretty much all of NE's footballs were 2psi under (-15%) what they just confirmed 2 hours and 15 minutes prior. How could they not feel a difference between IND's and NE's during the game? I find that extremely hard to believe.

As far as I can read there is no minimum PSI just a minimum "weight".

What a bunch of hooey.

Okay to a point I agree.

Now though I am wondering some. Per report from "sources from NFL" PFT is reporting the balls were checked prior to game and they were fine and in spec. So at some point someone took the balls and then deflated them. Why? No idea. Does it give an advantage.....I could see it. A softer ball is easier to grip, thus making it easier to catch and throw. But not sure 2lbs makes all that much difference.

Still, does not change the fact that post Referee inspection someone purposely depressurized those balls out of spec.

I just want to hear the explanation of how they're checked pre-game. If they were "in spec" then, how do the officials not "feel" -2psi footballs during the first half? Especially when they have IND's footballs right there being interchanged for comparison.

Rodgers has said he likes an over-inflated ball. And they try to get those past the officials for game-day without the officials deflating them. Well if officials are actually using pressure gauges, how would there be any room for an over-inflated ball to "pass". His comments would imply that game-balls are simply given the eye-ball/feel test by officials.

And I'm not implying Rodgers/GB are doing anything wrong. Just that team QBs like footballs a certain way, over/under inflated, thicker/thinner laces, with/without the shine, etc. And the equipment guys get those footballs into the lot that the officials choose from for game-day to get their QBs the best balls they can to fit their liking.

You cannot always feel that slight of difference, if you are not looking for it, and they sample balls with pressure gauge

Yeah I'm having a hard time seeing how these refs let balls that were 2psi under spec stay in play. 2psi would seem to be very noticeable in a ball that's only supposed to be holding roughly 13psi. Especially by people who are constantly handling these balls. Lol

I heard rumor Kraft was furious over this???? anybody else heard that? This definitely affects a legacy. The best analogy I heard today was ...........it's kind of understandable when a poor/broke person steals bread for his family, but very questionable when a rich person, with money in his pocket shoplifts. Why does BB feel he NEEDS to cheat?? Doesn't really make any sense.

I know there was some discussion on NE's legacy on Mike and Mike this morning. Some emails and texts they got were basically can't they stop cheating kind of thing. Like it or not, when you are successful, areas not as successful will be petty and jealous. That being said, if you are stupid enough to think you can keep bending rules and not get caught, you deserve the reputation you get.

They have 2 weeks until the Super Bowl, and Richard Sherman's 15 minutes of fame was last year. I don't think that 2 psi in a football makes up for 38 points. Is is shady? Sure. But this is getting ridiculous LOL.....
