Frank Gore: 2012 Bust

That 4.2 doesn't look bad but look what happened in the second half of the season, a sad 3.2 ypc. I look for worse this year as Frank creeps up on 30.

i had him in the 3rd last year, but as RB1... and it was lame... still won the league, but definitely thinking RB in rd 2 if QB rd 1

Your excellent pass blocker didn't place in the top 10 last year "E. when grades were handed out to RB's for their pass blocking efficiency. Here's the best RB's at pass blocking from last season.

Rank Name Team Pass Block Snaps Total Pressure Allowed PBE
1 Fred Jackson BUF........83 .................0................... 100.0
2 Michael Turner ATL 72 1 99.0
3 Jason Snelling ATL.......57................. 1.................... 98.2
4 Roy Helu WAS ............78................. 2.................... 98.1
5 Donald Brown IND .......68................. 2.................... 97.8
6 Dexter McCluster KC ....65................. 2.................... 97.7
7 Jackie Battle KC ..........64................. 2................... 97.7
8 James Starks GB .........71................. 2................... 97.5
9 Ahmad Bradshaw NYG ..105............... 4.................... 97.1
10 LeGarrette Blount TB ..58................ 2.................... 97.0

Then there's Gore way down the list.
Frank Gore....................138............2 sacks & 8 hurries for 10 total pressures allowed.

Only McCoy, Stewart, and Lumpkin allowed more pressures on the QB than Gore. Of those 3 only Lumpkin gave up more sacks to his QB than Gore.

These are meaningless and you know it. Only bring them out to try to support your lame argument.

Every SF coach has praised Gore for his blocking, and now he sucks at it? BS.

Funny how two Falcons and two Chiefs are among the top ten pass blocking backs in the league. Maybe scheme has something to do with it. I'm sure Dexter McCluster is a top ten back in pass protection.

Lame..........

That's why they are averages. Every back is going to have games that are better than others or stretches of games that drag their YPC down. Are you saying his skills deteriorated from week 8 to week 9? No. They played a stretch of good defenses and if you actually watched Niner games, their passing game sucked for the most part and teams were stacking the line. Pretty simple. In the playoffs, he had 13/89 vs the Saints and 16/74 against the Giants. Guess he regained his skills late in the season, which if you use your logic, bodes well for him in 2012.

Plus it was 4.3..............

Scheme? Never knew giving up sacks was part of the offensive plan. Getting the QB's ears rung isn't sound execution to me. I never liked stats that painted a dirty picture either. I will give you this though, a QB that holds on to the ball to long, such as Vick, can alter these numbers but they are what they are.

You might also note that every democrat has sang pretty high praises for Obama, doesn't make it so in my book. I'm jus' saying.

Blocking schemes. Some pick ups give more responsibility than others. But good to know that Dexter McCluster is a top 10 back in pass protection. Gonna make sure he's on all my teams this year.........

You gotta trust me on this one, nothing wrong with Gore in pass protections despite these lame stats.............

If I did "E" then the good folks here wouldn't have a thing to read today.

Good point............

As far as Turner is concerned, I think he is being undervalued in redraft. He's a guy I don't think will take as big a hit as others seem to think he will. Another 1200 yards plus and double digit TDs in 2012. Good value in the late 3rd, early 4th.

That said, I did move both Turner and Gore in Shula (5 keeper) this off season. Not that I don't think they will perform obviously, but was able to get some good value and probably wouldn't have gotten much after this year. Wanted to get younger while the getting was good.

Since you played a season (hated to lose you) in the PFL you know our keeper rules. Turner costs me a 10th round to keep this year. I agree with most everything you said about him. He'll score plenty though I feel he's seen his better days by far. Still, great value for me and I'm happy to have him around another season.

Oh and before one of us has to run off today I enjoyed discussing Frank with you the last couple of days.

Very good value as a 10th rounder.

As far as the Gore discussion, same here.............

But he didn't kill you and if your playoffs ran week 14-16, he had OK yards and a TD each game. Didn't carry anyone, but didn't devastate them either.

I mean 1200 rushing yards and 8 TDs isn't bust territory. The lack of receptions sucked, but nobody saw that coming. He hadn't had less than 43 in any season since his rookie year.

The guy that won my main league took him at 2.12. Guess Frank was a good luck charm too................;)

Another thing to consider in the Pro Gore Bust camp is that Gore has not been the most durable over his career. As he ages, you have to figure he is an above average injury risk. Sorry, just not digginh Gore this year either, but I also have to admit, 4th-5th rd area....and he becomes someone who is at least worth the look, but he'd likely have to slide a little past his current adp for me.

Sale high my fine feather friend! I drafted him in one league but know that one game does not make a season for us old farts.

Ah, you never learn on this one.

Guy looks great and the reduced work load will benefit, not hurt him. My only concern is that the Niners are not involving any of their backs in the passing game, so a big hit in PPR. They are using the WRs on short passes in place of the RBs. The offense looked sharp, so no complaints on the strategy. We'll see how it looks against a good D, but they were very crisp yesterday............

They all looked good Sunday "E." Since I have Smith in one league and Gore in another let's hope it continues.

Mud is so full of pookey.

He wouldn't have drafted him if he didn't think he was gonna be good.

But....lots of replies so you dun a good job with this thread.
