He had a similar injury to his left shoulder three years ago when he played for Green Bay and also avoided surgery then, too. The tendon finally released on its own and all was well. He is expecting the same thing to occur in this case, too. The purpose of arthroscopic surgery would be to provide relief from pain immediately instead of just waiting it out.
Very astute post (as usual). ESPN's Stephania Bell would be jealous.
(Here's the inevitable "but") But...
A biceps injury on a QB's non-throwing arm may be annoying, but largely insignificant as long as he can take a snap from under center.
On his throwing arm however, it can be a showstopper. I'll reference the Jets record last year before he suffered the injury (8-3), then after (1-4). Not to mention when this injury surfaced previously, he was 36, now he's 39 going on 40 and he'll be seriously stressing that area of the arm every time he drops back, cocks his arm, and releases.
Obviously he'll downplay the need for surgery. I mean he's interviewing for a 2009 job, after all, and his honesty is not his strong suit as of late.
On a related note, Bus Cook is starting to closely resemble one of Nixon's staff members during the Watergate scandal. First, the Cutler snafu, and now this, after last year's version of "this".
