Dolphin Receivers

I don't think he'll start. He's admitted that things are so fast for him right now that he's doing everything he can to keep up. That's true of all the rookies thus far. But he'll see a lot of time when the offense is deep into enemy territory.

ok thanks for the dolphin insight. How bout Brandon London? They liked his progress last year. Is he behind Turner or are things on the depth chart still being worked out

This is the key to me as well. Warner took over the year before, and performed very well. Granted he was not locked as the starter last year up front...but it was somewhat a consideration.

Lets face it though, Pennington really did do the almost impossible. He took a career that had most feeling he was gone...and came to a team that was the worst in the NFL and made them a playoff contender. That is hard to walk away from.

A couple depth charts have been released, but I believe the rooks are behind the vets. Todd Lowbar was just released last week, so the rooks have already displaced one practice squad guy from last year.

Bess: 75 receptions at ~10.5 YPC for 790 yards and 5 TDs.
Ginn: 70 receptions at ~16 YPC for 1120 yards and 8 TDs. Throw in a couple hundred yards rushing with a TD or two for good measure.

Production from Martin and Fasano from a yardage and TD standpoint is likely to drop sharply with the addition of Hartline and Turner, plus the increase in production from Bess and Ginn. I wouldn't expect more than 15% of the passing offense to come from them this year, although they'll still be sure targets for drive-extending conversions.

Thanks bud. I'm actually starting to consider Ginn more and more. My worries are the TDs though. I know i'm not the Dolphin expert, but I seem to remember the TEs consistently being the RZ targets last year.

Ginn's not getting any significant rushing production this year. If they run more wildcat sets, as expected, that doesn't favor WR's at all. Especially when you draft one of the greatest rushing QB's of all-time in the 2nd round.

And has Pennington ever had a receiver of his average over 15 ypc? I'm guessing not, but I don't feel like researching that. LOL

Without researching I would say yes, he threw to Santana Moss for a couple years.
 
just confirmed my thought, yep, 04 S. Moss averaged 18.6 ypc on 45 rec for 838 yds. In 03' Moss averaged 14.9 ypc (right at the 15) on 74 red for 1105 yds.

So yeah, a Penny receiver can do it, and Ginn is the type that can.

Edgar Thompson, of the Palm Beach Post, reports that WR Greg Camarillo made it through his second full practice out of the three that have taken place in this round of OTAs.

Our view: Thompson commented "At this rate, it'd been surprising if he's not in the starting lineup for the Sept. 12 season opener", and we tend to agree. Camarillo is well ahead of schedule and will have a great chance to hold off Davone Bess and rookie Patrick Turner if he can begin training camp completely healthy.
 
I do not see white as much of a factor this year.

Edgar Thompson, of the Palm Beach Post, reports that Pat White had a myriad of bad throws in the morning practice on Saturday, June 13, from hitting the crossbar of the goalpost in a red zone drill, to pegging Bill Parcells goal cart on a throw to the corner of the end zone.

Our view: Head coach Tony Sparano put a good spin on White's progress, saying ""Every day he's getting a little bit better at something.", but that would be hard to not do because White has come into the league with so much room to improve. It's going to be at least a year before he challenges to even be the backup QB in Miami.
 
How do you figure that? White's going to be used in the Wildcat. White's running ability is not in question, nor is his deep throw. Given that, White will be as effective as he needs to be this year. Besides, does it really surprise anyone that after spending his amateur career in the spread-option he's struggling to adjust to different reads and throws? It won't take a year to fix this, not that it's as big an issue as it's being out to be.

The ultimate effectiveness of the Wildcat is predicated by, or on the ability to be a passing threat, otherwise he is just another Rb. Now if you want to put Pat White on your sleeper rb list then I would be slightly more enthused. He has not had would could even be loosely considered a good preseason.
