Darren McFadden - Thoughts for 2009

Perfect assessment, Miller, especially with Davis calling the shots and his love of the flashy player.

When I look at this situation though, it screams New York Giants, 2008 to me.

Run-DMC, Fargas, and Bush reprising the roles of Jacobs, Ward, and Bradshaw.

3 guys with specific skillsets who have had a variety of durability issues throughout their college and pro careers, but are supremely productive when fed the ball.

I just need to see how the dust settles before I roster any of the 3.

Same here.

Although with how ridiculously late I've seen Fargas go, he's worth a shot.

McFadden goes in the 4th-5th with Fargas going in the 14th-15th.

I dont think I've been in a single mock draft where Mike Bush has been selected.

Only occasions where I've seen Fargas selected were providers that had him default-ranked in a draftable position and someone getting him with a late autodraft pick.

Seems like they could get a decent trade return if they put one of those guys on the market. I had heard rumblings about Bush leading up to the draft but nothing materialized. Probably a good thing that Oakland didn't get any extra draft picks to butcher.

Seriously??? I have a feeling this is a 10th rd or so guy when the deal deals start. I'd take Bush long before Fargus.

Not a big deal, but I think he has a better shot at numbers this year than Fargus. Nice compliment to the DMac style. I can see him getting some carries to spell DMac and picks up some short yardage carries. Kid has some upside. Nice late round gamble

I really don't know anything about him.

He ran for 177 yards and 2 TD's in the last game of the year against T.B. A game that T.B needed to win to make the playoffs. He would have been a 1st rd. pick in the draft a few years ago had he not broken his leg in college.
Yep, if not for that leg break I agree, you would have had a #1 pick. Great size and very good speed for a man that big. He goes 6-1, 245.

Holy shit. I missed that.

I really had no idea who this dude was, or where he came from.

Maybe the Oakland backfield is an even bigger mess than I thought.

I always thought Fargas was a decent RB too.

A few years back when Louisville was challenging for Big East titles, he was arguably a bigger reason for team success than Brohm.

Basically, he was Beanie Wells with a harder running style.

I'll state up front that I'm in no way a Raiders fan.

I think DMac is a solid RB#2 in PPR this year in a Reggie Bush type role and M.Bush taking on the Duce type role. Solid FB in town to clear the way. M.Bush could be the biggest sleeper of the year. M.Bush is a future stud. It is only M.Bush's current situation with a very crowded backfield that's holding him back.

Not that it means much with a small segment of stats to pull from, but:
- DMac has 4 TD's in 142 touches - 1 every 35 touches
- M.Bush has 3 TD's in 114 touches - 1 every 38 touches
The Raider rushing TD issue could be fixed by giving these two dynamic players the ball more and losing Fargas all together. JRuss had 1 rushing TD in 17 attempts. Farga had 228 touches and managed only 1 TD. It seems like you'd almost have to try to not get TD's to only manage 1 in 228 rushs/recpts as a RB carrying the majority of a load.
Adrian Peterson had 384 touches and 10 TD's - 1 every 38 touches as a reference.

That is odd because I have been seeing Bush going in around the same area but Fargas as the one who is dropping off the board

To clarify, in the mocks I have participated in Bush has gone in the 14-15 range and Fargas has not been selected. Checking some ADP's for a few sites it would appear Fargas is still getting more love than Michael. This surprises me. On the MFL website it appears the info is from last year and I have not accessed current rankings and could not get rankings from Antsports - is that user error or is it to early? FBGuys and FBCalc both have Fargas higher though.

Echoing the thoughts on Bush. Like Dennis Dixon he was the best player in the country before injury. The Raiders were brilliant to pick him up and now he is rounding into form.

I have to question the love for Lorenzo Neal. In SD he was a beast but I feel the game has passed him by which is why B-more let him go.

Fargas is serviceable and consistent if not unspectacular and likely is there to be insurance for two guys with injury history. Those that hope for a Bush/DMac backfield will be dissappointed until they both prove durability.

Okay, a couple of things here.....

First I am a huge Michael Bush fan. But as long as he is in Oakland...his value is nill. For whatever reason, the coaches as far as I have seen and read love Fargus and McFadden. Bush will only be a short yardage is my guess.

As for McFadden..I only wish they would use him a whole lot more...but something tells me it is RBBC with Fargus....and it will hinder them not help...since Russell still sucks.

As for Dynasty...I would still target Bush late...as he will be let go or traded sometime...and he will be a starting Rb someday.

FYI Oakland was attempting to trade M.Bush during off-season..but no takers.

Dixon is another player I would like to see well and make an appearance during the preseason to evaluate how things have gone for him recoverywise and possible impact in this league

I had not noticed or heard anything about him only living off the memory of what he was - is there anything you can point out that leads you to think he might other than the release?

As much as I am one of those who look forward to the Faddy/Bush combo Fargas has been the one they have had to resort to the past few years and has done fairly well. What is his salary #'s? If low he is a great insurance policy.
