Can Matthew Stafford ever stay healthy?

http://ploegblog.net/?p=6I really have faith that Stafford can stay healthy this year (and not because there won't be football)... If he goes down early, fans will be calling for his head..

I haven't read much positive on him lately (Follett story, Is he a bust?) so that article was nice to see. The offensive line is a key factor in his development, so I'm also a fan of drafting Tyron Smith... What do you guys think?

Not unless they can protect him better, and use the running game more. IF they keep him out there on an island, he will get killed again.

Although, this seems alot like the discussions we had on Schaub his first two years....and Rodgers for his first dunno:

Here is a little more info on Stafford from our forum.

http://www.sofantasyfootball.com/nf...staffords-injury-more-clavicle-problem-39513/

Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz said Friday, Feb. 11, that QB Matthew Stafford's injury in 2010 was more of a collarbone injury, rather than a shoulder separation of the AC joint, reports Hugh Bernreuter, of The Saginaw News. "The AC is sort of a misnomer," Schwartz said. "It's really more of a collarbone issue than a shoulder separation. It's a clavicle joint."

A bit of good news as this is less likely to effect his throwing motion, should be good to go for TC.

Stafford stayed healthy during his college career with a poor offensive line in front of him. That said, his pro career has been a different story.

I think the two injuries he suffered to both shoulders were due to awkward landings on the turf. This should help him learn to get rid of the ball a little faster, instead of holding on to it waiting for bigger plays to develop down field.

If Drew Brees can come back like he did from his serious shoulder injury, I'm sure Stafford will be able to also. Modern medical procedures keep getting better and better.

detroit definitely needs to work on that oline though . . . their defense is finally coming around with some solid picks . . . their total offense will improve with more quality up front . . . which in turn, will help stafford stay healthy . . . ;)

Matthew Stafford has resumed throwing passes, just over two months removed from surgery on his right shoulder.
"Just got done throwing," he tweeted Wednesday. "Shoulder is feeling good." Lions officials have insisted all along that Stafford's shoulder injuries aren't a long-range concern, and it's good to see him recovering ahead of or at least on schedule. He'll likely be a value pick in 2011 fantasy drafts.

Very Nice Fire, you beat me to the punch.

Detroit Lions Quarterback, Matthew Stafford, started throwing for the first time since undergoing shoulder surgery in January. Earlier in the week Lions Coach, Jim Schwartz, told the media Stafford hasn't been able to practice passing. But a few days after Schwartz's announcement, Stafford tweeted he had started to throw and his shoulder was feeling good. Stafford missed six games during his Rookie campaign and played in just three games during his 2nd NFL season, thats a total of 19 games missed and only nine games played in two seasons. When on the field, Stafford has put his talent on full display, but before we consider him a top fantasy QB, hell need to prove he can play an entire season. For now, hes a solid #2 QB for your fantasy roster.

For the sake of all Lions fans and as a fan of Stafford myself, really hope he pulls it together and becomes the QB i think he can and will be. Not sure what Detroit is missing but they need to work on letting Stafford stay up right.

Honestly i have no clue. Don't follow them close enough to wvwn have a thought on what they're missing. I'm just a Stafford fan since he came Georgia and kinda tired of watching them lose. I think Jax fans and Detroit fans have alot in common. So used to losing you just get numb to it all. Every year starts the same with anticipation of maybe a winning season. Then the season starts and your just hoping to make it to .500. Then reality sets in and your accepting another losing season.

Here in Jax the fat lady loses her voice by mid season and we just pain stakingly tolerate the enevitable praying that the end comes soon.
