Brandon Marshall in 2011

What are the Outlaws feelings on Brandon Marshall going into the 2011 season? Last year was pretty lousy for his ADP in drafts last year, but was still a marginal #1 WR with 86/1014/3.

Miami is going through an offensive overhaul; however that overhaul has yet to address the QB position. If Chad Henne is the starter again next season at what point does Marshall become a nice value pick? Would you gamble on him at all? He's one of those guys that you might be able to pick up as a #2 WR in drafts that could produce at a top 5 level if everything clicks.

Glad you started this Chris and I am more interested in the replies than I am in replying.

I had a keeper spot available and was torn between Marshall (cost=5th), Britt (16) and Bowe (16).

I really thought Britt would be my guy but he's turned total punk. Bowe is a disaster looking for a place to happen so I sold high .
Everything I've read about Marshall this off-season is positive. Not in a footnball sense but in a personal sense. I like good guys and like guys that try hard. I may be crucified by my puritan views but I put my chips on Marshall even at the higher cost.

I have several months to change my mind between him and Britt but i don't see my mind changing.

Marshall in the 5th will be sweet.

Given my known penchant for Diva receivers :10ftpole: words come to mind. Dude got stabbed by his wife/gf a few months ago in a recovery off season. This is not normal.

Marshall is another stab wound or felony assault just waiting to happen. People die on his lap in Limos. He is different then vocal idiots like TO and Chad Johnson.

I have defended Marshall in the past, but gotta agree with RC here. Bad situations just seem to follow this guy. Williams shooting, slapping around one GF and then getting stabbed by another. What's next?

I love his game, but he would have to fall to just an insane value for me to bite this year............

Bowe a disaster looking for a place to happen? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

You better have gotten a sweet deal because Bowe for a 16 in a no brainer in that league. I realize you won by accident last year but you really overthought this one...............

Hey E,

I posted the deal in PFL but in case you missed it....

I gave DJax (2) and Bowe (16) for Blount (16) and Driver (just to keep it even).

Marshall @ a 4 (I errantly posted 5th earlier) is just barely a value and I'm not counting on him as a #1 WR. Pretty much need him to be a 4th round kinda guy.

As for Bowe, there was a reason he was laying around on the WW when I grabbed him....he totally sucked for half the year. Even after he came around, he was all or nothing. He's inconsistent, lazy and a pain in butt to own. Marshall may fare no better but I guess I will learn that this year.

Bowe actually helped me make the playoffs in a 16 team dynasty league last year, regardless of his inconsistency. 15+ TD's is hard to argue although it's probably his high water mark.
I'd confidently pencil Marshall in for the same stats as last year with double the TD's. If I could have him as my WR2 in a 12-team or more league, I'm probably winning it. Henne's no great shakes, but he's serviceable enough to feed Marshall his touches, and his only realistic competition for targets is Davone Bess who isn't exactly anyone's idea of a deep threat. Ricky and Ronnie are essentially gone so I think Miami may actually throw a slight bit more, to boot.
Late 4th/early 5th round seems about right (non-PPR), after the first wave of slam dunk #1's are off the board.
AJ, Roddy, CJ, Fitz, Nicks, Wallace, Jennings, Wayne, DJax, Colston, Bowe.. then Marshall?
How about a toss-up between Marshall, Miles Austin, and Mike Williams (Tampa)?

No doubt that Bowe helped lead me to the championship. I got lucky and the 5 games he scored 3 TDs in ( sarcastic account for 15 TDs) were weeks the rest of my team didn't show up, and on the weeks he posted goose eggs, Vick came through with some crazy totals.

Could have easily worked the other way and I end the season with 5 wins by a margin of 100 points each. There's not much pride in being the top scorer in your league and not making the play-offs. Got to have weekly numbers.

I like your optimism on Marshall, though. His talent level is off the charts, but what was it Herm Edwards said?...."Talent without production is useless".

Not crazy about that deal in PPR, but who knows?

Not that it matters, but you picked up Bowe early in the year when you were losing and had waiver priority . I couldn't believe when he was dropped, but never had a chance to grab him.

Good luck this year..........

-- Brandon Marshall: My Wife Did Not Stab Me --
Fri Jul 15, 2011 --from FFMastermind.com
The Sun-Sentinel reports on April 22, Miami Dolphins WR Brandon Marshall's wife, Michi Nogami-Marshall, was arrested and charged with aggravated battery for allegedly stabbing him in the abdomen. She returned to jail on June 10 for violating the protection order when it was discovered that she was living in their Southwest Ranches home. "I can't talk about the details of the incident because it's still an open case, but I did talk to the state attorney's office last month and the one thing I made clear was my wife did not stab me. She didn't assault me. We were having a marital dispute that got heated, but it didn't happen as reported," Marshall said. "Like any young couple we have issues and hope to work through it. But it's hard to pick up the pieces and try to move forward with the distance that the situation has created. I'm hopeful that we can move forward because I love my wife."

Thanks for the update Brandon, but that still leaves me with one big question?????? Who did stab you then? You? or someone else?? Both of these remaining possibilities affect your draftability in Fantasy Football, and stability on a NFL Team making millions.

Eh.... happens more often than you think in these kind of cases (spouses lying about what happened after the fact)

Who cares whether she stabbed him on purpose or if it was accidental? It's fantasy football, there are no points for a player's off-the-field life. The guy's up here in Boston grinding himself to death and working hard on improving his speed. I don't think it's a stretch to say that he'll do at least as well as last year, if not better. I would hope to see a thousand yard season out of him, but that's going to depend on the Fins passing game (if there are more deep passes, expect to hear the name Edmond Gates a lot).

He might do just great till the next stabbing or mash-up in the local McDonalds!! You can count on one finger how many pro football players had a teamate bleedout on their lap in a limo.

Oh RC, you're such a fuddy duddy.

Step into the 2kteens and look around. Being a pimp, a punk or a thug is cool...oops, sorry....KEWL!

Used to be that being a top athlete in college was enough to make you kewl but that ain't so nowadays.

These young guys are just trying to fit in wid da kewl crowd and having a rap sheet and knife wounds is part of the deal.

Doesn't mean he isn't a stand up guy.
