Are the Skins looking to dump Haynesworth or not?

rotoworld,
The Redskins have fined Albert Haynesworth $10,000 for skipping their mandatory minicamp.

Just 2,100 more $10,000 fines to go before the Skins recoup the $21M option bonus they paid Haynesworth in April. According to the Washington Post, "many in the organization" believe it is "highly unlikely" that Haynesworth will be on the Redskins' Week 1 roster, which is the most interesting part of this story. Ideally, the team would get Haynesworth to pay back at least some of his bonus money before shipping him out of town.

Fined him 10 grand, that will show him. It like breaking into my car to steal a penny from the change keeper.

Where is our : pissingintothewind: smilie?

LOL @ Coach, too true. They could always just keep him on the roster for another 21oo days to get their money back then ditch him. By then he'll be useless too other teams. Bet he would change his attitude then. But on the upside, hopefully they do trade him and he goes to Detroit and gets back to playing form like he was in Tennessee.

(KFFL) Washington Redskins DL Albert Haynesworth's personal trainer, Tripp Smith, said Haynesoworth has lost 32 pounds since he started working out April 5, reports Rich Campbell, of The Free Lance-Star. He also said that Haynesworth is committed to getting in top physical shape for the start of training camp. "I think he's going to open some eyes when he gets to camp," Smith said. "Albert, he's the type of person that doesn't want to disappoint anybody, but he's very business-minded. I think it has motivated him quite a bit, just seeing what his teammates are saying about him and seeing what everybody in the press is saying about him."

Looks to me like he is working out to make sure he doesnt fit the Redskins plans for him in any way shape or form. Hes going the wrong way weight wise to play the nose. He is in excellent shape to go to a 4-3.....

(Rotoworld) Coach Mike Shanahan revealed Thursday that he spoke to Albert Haynesworth about his expectations before Haynesworth accepted his $21 million bonus in March.
Analysis: "I said if he did not want to be part of the Washington Redskins, that I'd let him go," Shanahan said. "I wouldn't trade him, I'd let him go to another football team. But if he did take the check for $21 million, I expected him to play any position that we thought would be in the best interest of the Washington Redskins, be it nose tackle, defensive end or if we wanted to play him at free safety, but we expected him to come in in great shape and do the things that he's capable of doing ... And hopefully he does that."

"Albert Haynesworth had his chance to prove to his Washington Redskins teammates that he was in practice shape, but he failed in his attempt. Haynesworth did not make it through his conditioning test Thursday at Redskins Park, sources told FOXSports.com. The disgruntled star defensive tackle finished the first part of the test, but walked through the second portion. Now Mike Shanahan has to make a decision on whether or not to let him practice and if so, how much. It's believed that Haynesworth will not be allowed to practice with the rest of his teammates in team drills. Sources said Wednesday that if he passed the conditioning test, he would be cleared to practice with the team. But by"

Here's the cbssports.com spin,
Albert Haynesworth has failed his conditioning test for a second consecutive day and is being forced to sit out practice again at Redskins training camp. Haynesworth did not pass the test Friday morning, in a repeat of his result Thursday, Day 1 of camp. Haynesworth boycotted the team's offseason workouts and minicamps because he is unhappy with the Redskins' switch to a 3-4 defense and wanted a trade. When he finally returned to Redskins Park on Wednesday, he was told he would have to pass a conditioning test in order to take part in training camp and, even once he passed, would start off practicing with the reserves.

Analysis: Haynesworth is a big piece of what the Redskins want to do on defense as he's got the big body to stuff offensive players at the line of scrimmage, but until he passes their physical tests he won't be a part of the team. Even if he does pass these conditioning tests, there's a chance he won't start because of his rocky offseason with the club. The Redskins DST is a decent second choice but not good enough to start or draft in standard Fantasy play.
