Zach Miller Seriously Injured

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports Zach Miller underwent "urgent vascular surgery" on Sunday night to repair artery damage in his dislocated knee.

As Adam Schefter put it, the operation is an effort to save Miller's leg, not just his career. Obviously, this is an extremely serious situation, one which does not require any analysis about football repercussions. We wish Miller all the best.

I saw the whole play, and saw all the replay's as they were deciding if it was a touch down or not. It was just gruesome what happened to his knee. Incredibly gruesome.

Doctors believe they have saved the leg of Bears TE Zach Miller.

It's a surreal sentence to have to write, but the best possible news. Per coach John Fox, Miller has a "good pulse in his lower leg, and warmth." Miller remains hospitalized in New Orleans. His status should be updated some time in the next 48 hours.

Coming at you
Everyone who has played at any level or even watched on TV realizes how violent the game is and understand that injuries are a part of the game. But when you see something this severe, even the most jaded fan is impacted.

Glad to hear the first step has been successful.

(6 mins ago) Miller was discharged from a New Orleans hospital Monday and cleared to fly back to the Chicago area, Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Miller required emergency vascular surgery to repair a torn artery in his left leg after dislocating his knee in the Bears' Oct. 29 loss to the Saints, with doctors holding him in New Orleans the past week to oversee his healing. With the procedure deemed successful, Miller will be able to return home, where he'll continue to receive additional medical care. It's expected that Miller will need more surgeries to address torn ligaments in his leg, making it more likely than not that the 33-year-old's career is over
