McDaniels benching Marshall for week 17 against the Chiefs

"Our word for the week has been accountability. And we're looking to put the 45 guys on the field on Sunday that want to play together, want to help us try to win and qualify for the playoffs," McDaniels said. "... And anybody that showed any indifference to that, we'll play without them."

:rolllaugh:

He missed Thursday's practice, and when asked if his star receiver would work out Friday, McDaniels said Marshall would be deactivated for the game and noted it was "a coaching decision, not an injury issue."

:biglaugh:

Go Chiefs

Marshall indeed being punished
The News
In one final reversal in a bizarre story, Broncos coach Josh McDaniels confirmed on Friday afternoon that Brandon Marshall has been benched in Week 17 for disciplinary, and not health related, reasons, according to the Associated Press.
Our View
Marshall was apparently "indifferent" during the week, and did not hold himself "accountable." If you say so, Josh. Facing a must-win game against a division rival seems like a truly ridiculous time to make a statement benching, but that's how McDaniels operates. Perhaps if he had disciplined Marshall earlier in the season for being such a prima donna, he wouldn't in the situation of having to be without for the most critical game of the season.

"Its An Outrage"
If this is a must win game for the Bronco's McDaniels needs to let it slide and deal with the situation at a later date IMO

Scheffler benched for Week 17
The News
According to the Denver Post, Broncos tight end Tony Scheffler has been benched for the regular season finale.
Our View
Scheffler is not injured, just in coach McDaniels' doghouse. He apparently expressed his frustration about not getting the ball enough this season to some of his teammates and it got back to the coach. That little miscue will have him riding the pine with the Broncos playoffs aspirations on the line. The team could also be keeping him healthy so they can trade him before next season. Regardless of the situation, Scheffler isn't happy about it. "I'm a competitor and have worked extremely hard this offseason to be able to fight for a chance to make the playoffs," Scheffler said Friday. "Him taking that away doesn't sit very well with me or some of my teammates."
