Wr Derrick Mason Gets 2 More Years.

The Baltimore Ravens re-signed wideout Derrick Mason on Wednesday to a two-year, $8 million contract. Mason spent the past five seasons with the Ravens, never missing a game and representing the team's most trustworthy targets. Mason had wanted to play again for Baltimore all along, but said that he would only return to the game if he got a two-year deal. That's exactly what happened. Mason, 36, is a fossil compared to other solid wide receivers, but he is coming off his eighth 1,000-yard season, including his third in a row.

While I loved the Boldin signing by the Ravens I wasn't as excited as most while Mason was dangling in the wind. For me this was the second half of the Wr puzzle in Baltimore. The addition of Boldin was great but keeping Mason on the other side is golden as these two will be a great compliment to each other. Now the other teams in the division do have a real problem stopping the Ravens O. Flacco, Rice, Boldin and Mason sound a lot more dangerous than just Flacco, Rice and Boldin. Flacco now becomes a QB I will keep an eye on in my redraft leagues. After the best high pick QBs are gone he could become a real gem in the next tier of QBs for those who wait to assemble other parts of their fantasy teams first.

D.Mason might be 36 years old but is still putting up some solid numbers, IMO its a great move to lock him up for the next two years as both Boldin and Mason will complement each other to give Flacco some legitimate weapons and will in return make the running game a bigger threat.

I am very happy with this signing. The Ravens offense will be really electric this year.

Coach, don't give away those types of secrets! Flacco should be a great later round bargain!

MASON is always underrated and a solid WR2. I love having him on my fantasy team because I can get him really late and he always proves a tremendous value.

As good as Mason has been he's getting REALLY old now. Even Marvin Harrison fell off at 36 and he'd been productive right up until then.

I drafted in my league years ago, and he's been solid.
I loved him in Tennessee and still love him today. He's a great receiver.

Harrison had knee issues though. Mason to my recollection has not had knee issues. Just shoulder issues.

I just don't buy all the hype.

The Ravens offense will be very much like it was last year. Nice running attack with a mediocre passing game. They still don't have a deep threat that I'm aware of, Flacco is still just an average passer and there is no way that Boldin and Mason BOTH make it through a full season.
