I don't fully understand what happens when a sterling back-up QB gets traded to another team as a potential starter.
Further, I don't understand why needy teams continue to pay the big bucks for someone else's "not good enough to start".
Matt Cassel, Kevin Kolb and Matt Flynn are the 3 most recent disasters for hungry home town fans.
Cassel is the only starter of the 3 and he's proudly sporting a 69% QB rating.
Kolb has been in and out as the starter as he's in a duel with a 5th round draft pick from Fordham Univ. John Skelton.
Flynn has yet to see the field, losing out to rookie Russell Wilson...a 3rd round pick from NC State/ Wisconsin.
Cassel is making 6.2 mil this year, Kolb is at 3.9 mil, and Flynn is tapping the cap for 4 mil. We aren't including the mega-buck signing bonuses here.
Bottom line: These guys amounted to nothing once they left the comfort of their #2 status.
Why have these guys been such failures?
Who was the last back-up to transition to a new team and be successful? Earl Morrall? Billy Kilmer?
Chime in.
