Wild day in Jacksonville continues, Jaguars have been sold

rotoworld,

Jaguars signed GM Gene Smith to a three-year extension, and owner Wayne Weaver sold the team to Pakistani-born entrepreneur Shahid Kahn.
It's a wild day in Jacksonville. They are sticking with Smith but have fired coach Jack Del Rio. Weaver says the team will remain in Jacksonville despite the sale. And by retaining Smith, it's more likely that quarterback Blaine Gabbert will be given a long leash despite a dreadful rookie campaign. The Jaguars host the Chargers on Monday Night Football in Week 13.

Mel Tucker is the defensive cordinator and has been told he will have the chance to interview for the HC job full time next year. Not sure what to think of the sale of the team though. Its big news here as there was no indication of any kind of sale of the team. Big suprise, does sound good tho as the new owner is buying a house in Jax and is familiar with the area. Now we are number one in something. Number 1 in pakistani owners. With his pakistani back ground we might be unpredictable now. Its going to be a team full of suicide bombers. LOL

On keeping gene smith i think that is a stupid move. He should have gone also. We've shown no improvement under his direction.

Got the chance to listen to 1010 sports radio yesterday and it was all about Jax and all the things going on. Majority agreed on the Del Rio firing just not the timing of it. Should have been sooner. And everybody is still wanting for Smith to go and never should have got an extension. He hasn't done anything to prove he deserved it. IMO he is to blame for our drastic downfall.

Now on the sell of the team, Got to hear alot on the back ground of Kahn. According to the radio he hs more money than God.(didn't realize God carried a wallet but anywho). Seems dedicated to bringing a championship here to Jacksonville and with his money, its possible. They're not moving anytime soon as the stadium lease buyout is 250 million and he just spent 760 million for the team. Think he will give the city another shot to prove we want this team before anything happens. This guy is a self made multi millionaire and made that money in the auto industry.

Side note, evidenitly he tried to buy the Rams last season but it was blocked by the Rams owners for some reason still coming out now. And funny thing i heard about the Rams organization is the owner is on the board for NFL expansion and does live in LA. Thinking it was blocked as he wanted Kahn to move them to LA and he wouldn't agree to it. With that thinking , the sell of the team sounds promising. Sounds like he wants to keep us here as long as we become profitable for him and the NFL. Which might be a problem as we have lost money for 3 straight seasons.

Yes it could. NFL wants LA market. Wants to keep st. louis market. Its just money keeping the Jags there..........

Not buying all the Jags moving talk. Don't think it will happen anytime soon, if at all. Our new owner wants the team to stay here and has the money to make that happen. Think part of the reason he didn't get the Rams lst year is because they wanted him to move them to LA. And whats so great about LA? Many teams have gone there but left shortly after. So evidentily that tells me it doesn't work there. And the owner of St Louis is on the board for NFL expansion and does live in LA, kinda tells me he wants them in LA but doesn't want to be the bad guy moving them. He'd sell if somebody agreed to move them.

Well, it was a given the Jags were going to be sold and I'm not opposed to foreign ownership as such. Hell, we could probably use a couple teams in Canada and Mexico (well, once the drug war is over).

It is money that keeps the Jags here. Hell that can be said about every city that has a team. LA doesn't have the money to keep a team there. How many times in my life do i have to keep hearing put a team in LA just to see them move out again. LA is too busy supporting the gangs and drug trade to worry about supprting a team. Call the Raiders and see if they want to come back for a 3rd or 4th time. Rams have been there before and it didnt work so why would they make the same mistake the Raiders did by moving there again just to leave. Cali has the Chargers, Niners and Raiders to cheer for.
