Why is this star not rising?

Visanthe Shiancoe

Last year he was the 5th highest scoring TE in most standard scoring leagues.

596yds, 7tds

This season I have seen his ranking anywhere from being the 12 best to the 20th best TE with an ADP of mid 13th rd.

He is a year more experienced in the offensive system.

His QB situation is not going to be any worse than it was last year.

There has been no addition of stud WRs to take the focus off of him.

He does not have a history of injury.

In his first 3 years his production has doubled from that of the previous year each year.

I don't see why TEs like Dustin Kellar, Anthony Fasano, Heath Miller, or Tony Scheffler are always being drafted ahead of this guy.

What am I missing with this? Why is his value so low?

And now with MR TE booster at QB you still see no increase his value? I think he will be the sleeper TE of the year.

Deacon, I think you may be onto something here. He isn't a flashy name, but he seems to get the job done.

I agree, I picked him up a backup TE in two leagues and am totally delighted.

But maybe we should keep this to ourselves, Deacon???

I don't think you are "missing" anything. In the SOFFL II draft he was taken ahead of your above comparisons (except for Keller, who went 2 picks before him) making him a closer comparison to Shockey and Zack Miller, which I think is pretty reasonable.

You make a valid point regarding his production last year vs his ADP this year so he could be a great value after the 11th, but I think more what you are noticing is an inflated value of guys like Carlson, Winslow and Daniels.

But you're right...He doesn't get talked about much.

My ONLY concern is the following name Kleinsasser. Last year he was kept in to block...and Shiancoe was freed up to run routes. I saw some articles not too long ago...that stated they wanted to go back to using Kleinsasser as a receiver again.

I agree...Shiancoe has the shot to be a super sleeper at Te. But I would hold off just yet....last year might have been the peak.

Favre hasn't exactly been TE-friendly over the course of his career, with the exception of a couple decent seasons from Mark "I eat babysitters" Chmura back in the mid-90's in GB. Mostly because TE's don't usually run go routes and 25-yard outs, and Favre's never been mistaken for an underneath "touch" QB.
With all that said, I'd wager on Shiancoe at the very least duplicating his fantasy point production from last year. That justifies your thread in and of itself and he should be a starter in every 12-team and deeper league.

I will disagree somewhat with this. Favre, or at least the offenses he was in, were very TE target heavy at teh goal line. Chmura, Franks and even Lee in some years were heavily targeted in the red zone.

I have to disagree with you on this one. The only reason why you know the name Bubba Franks is because of Favre. He really likes going to the TE in red zone opportunities. Favre is the only reason why Keller is valued so high now.

agree with Miller. Hes under the radar a little but is a player that might give some consistant production. I think his ceiling is a little limited which might explain why owners arent tripping all over themselves trying to aquire him in dynasty

Favre also leaned pretty heavily on Keller for a stretch last season

Favre's value to a TE is in the redzone, he loves the TE! Now with AP available at the GL, they might not do as many of the play action passes inside the 5, but Favre will get some of those calls, and TE is a popular target for him when he does.

Im a Dallas fan honest!!!
I grabbed him up as well in both my leagues. He's my back up to Witten in one but still pretty excited to have him.
