I still feel Rodgers is the most deserving. The frollowing was cut and pasted from another board having this discussion. It is very telling in my opinion.

You're just somebody who's caught in the moment. I knew Brees breaking the record combined with the Packers loss would bring this argument up.
Breaking Marino's record is an accomplishment, but yards is just a small sample of the overall season a QB is having.

Brees has thrown for 5,087 yds to Rodgers' 4,643
Brees has a Completion % of 70.7% compared to Rodgers 68.3%

Rodgers has 45 TD's to Brees' 41
Rodgers 6 INT's to Brees' 13
Rodgers has a QB Rating of 122.5 to Brees' 108.4

14 points is a huge difference in QB rating. For comparison, Brady is just 3 pts behind Brees, Romo is just 6 pts behind. Schaub and Stafford are 12 pts behind Brees.

4 more TD's.
Half as many INT's.
400 less yds.
If you go only by passing, Rodgers is the clear cut MVP.

But let's throw rushing stats in there as well just to get the whole picture.

Brees has 81 rushing yds and 1 rushing TD
Rodgers has 257 rushing yds and 3 TD's.

Let's slow down and look at everything. Rodgers is the MVP and it's not close. Brees is #2, but he's a distant second.

The head to head win is another big consideration the first game of the season.

If the award was true to it's name it would be Peyton Manning hands down. Without Rodgers or Brees do the Packers and Saints only win 2 games respectively

Seriously though, it's Rodgers.

rodgers probably win... but with all that talent around him and one of the strongest modern era teams... i disagree with scott the ass packers would still win without rodgers brees is and forever shall be my mvp!

NFL MVP for me, it is easily Rodgers. The guy makes things happen and his defense is not all that great or the running game.

Cam is easily for me the Fantasy MVP this year

That was my tongue-in-cheek point why Manning is the Most Valuable Player. We've now seen how bad the Colts are without him. I don't think GB or NO would only win 2 games (i.e. they'd win more) backing up my point that Manning is the most valuable

......and that's saying something coming from a Pats fan!

JScott- I gotta know....Did any animal die??? That sounded wild on this side!

lol... only thing dead is my separated shoulder. My dog's no giant by any means but a strong, overly protective 85lbs shepherd mix who yanked my shoulder out going after that other dog. Felt bad too because that other dog just wanted to play but wasn't getting the hint that she was about to be tender vittles. It went on for another 5 minutes after we hung up. :ugh:

ouch! I have the same problem daily. I walk my dog and others run up to us. He does nothing until they snap at him then he kind of hurts them. If they are good, he is good. It sucks when the little snippy ones run up and nip him, because he takes them out, and they deserve it. If the are pits or other big agressive dogs I pack a .45/410 Bond Arms Ranger and I will use it.

I always thought the MVP went to the athlete that made the most difference for a certain team. Guess i thought wrong with all this Brees/Rodgers talk. Yes they are great but they were great last year also. So no difference from then. I take the MVP as the person who just really made a huge difference. And Cam is that player. He turned around a team going no where last season to an exciting team this that if they had any defense they would have been knocking on the playoffs door.

Hard to consider Newton the MVP when his Fantasy Stats only account for 6 wins. I would vote Dalton in front of Newton, and he played a much tougher schedule.

That would be a easy argument to make i guess except Dalton also got Green and has a much better defense that made opportunities for him. Cam didn't have the good defense to help him. Cam was put on a team of aging players and rejects from other teams. They were expected to do nothing at all this year and the defense didn't disappoint the critics on that. Cam came in and actually made them competitive by himself. People can say well Cam had smith to throw to. But for over 400yds several times this year? Dalton didn't do that. Taking nothing away from Dalton, I like the guy and he looks to be the real deal and Cincy is going to be fighting for 1st in the division really soon. It'll be a nice change of scenary. Just think the way Cam took a really bad Carolina team(look at them last year) and made them fun to watch and very competitive this season in most games, that he is the MVP in my eyes.

Steve Smith more than equals Green. Smith had 1308 yards rec. and 6 td's. Green had 1031 and 7. (and Green didn't have Cams threat to run to aid him) Dalton helped the bengals to more wins against much tougher defenses, and he was outscored by only 4 points agame. Cam cannot be considered as MVP with a losing record,or in my opinion, considered over Dalton in that category of voting. He can be considered offensive player of the year, or ROY. He did awesome. Realizing this is only our opinions and I respect where yours is coming from. I just feel it is Fantasy slanted.

You brought up a good point there. I definitly agree with you. Ok since the Rodgers/Brees MVP debate is like beating a dead horse now, lets talk Rookie of the year award. Who gets that? Seems Dalton and Cam are top of the class for that award. I would have to say if Dalton gets Cincy in the playoffs then hands down he gets it and more than deserves it.

On a side note, i give Gabbert the worst rookie of the year award.

I think whether Dalton get cincy in the playoffs doesn't matter to me. Cam has had just to much of an undeniably fantastic season not to win that. Cin and Car defense are so extremely different in terms of how good they are is not fair to Cam. He puts up the popints virtually every game for his team. i like how RC considered the MVP and losing record. I believe the rookie of the year is a more individual feat rather than MVP which takes into consideration how you how helped your team among the stats as well.

I'm with ya Cerb on Gabbert which is also why i think MJD on almost any other team would be MVP

Has to be Dalton. He has excelled when no one thought he would amount to crap. Now i know they all said Cam didnt have the ability to do well in the pros but he is by far not the best rookie out there..

Now MVP to me is the most valuable player on there team. Lets hope they take a hint from the Heisman this year and award it to the best player...not just the best QB on the top team.
