Target was a poor choice of words. "Time Bomb" might be more appropriate.
I don't think D's will be trying to kill the guy.
It's the way he runs, the times he's done it, and the desire to do it again combined with the defenses commitment to stop him.
Bad combination.
well that makes a little more sense. The way you worded it was as you felt there was a bounty on this kids knee just b/c he broke 2000 yds.....made no sense.
But even if you put all of that aside, it's just the way things work. Messiah arrives, masses worship, Messiah dies, new Messiah arrives.
...but <sigh> maybe this guy is different.
Whoah.....not so fast.
The very ELITE RB's in fantasy seem to have more staying power than that. Just look at history.
Let's go back to the last 10 years.
At the start of the decade Faulk was THE MAN! He was the top RB in 00' & 01' (was also top 3 in 98 & 99). Edge was also pretty strong in some of that time frame and showed good staying power.
In 02' the Faulk show gave way to a new era and another one started to loom in the background. Holmes became THE MAN! He was 2nd in 01, then took over the fantasy world in 02 & 03. Fantastic 3 year run at the top. In each of his top years there was a man named LT lurking at 3rd...but we'll get to him in a sec.
The Holmes show ended in 04' and gave way to the SA. Alexander has another 2 year run at the top in 04 & 05'. Again, LT lurked for his 3rd and 4th straight year as the #3 RB.....
But he didn't lurk for long! In 06, the fantasy player of the decade finally claimed the top spot with his 5th and 6th straight year in the top 3. LJ finished 2nd in 05 & 06 as well. At the end of the LT run a new man started to emerge, AP, finishing 3rd in 07.
Much like LT at that start AP followed his 3rd with another one in 08 and made it 3 straight in 09' with a 2nd. 2008 & 2009 marked the first time since the 90's where we did not see a 2 year run for the top RB. Dwill jumped up and grabbed the spot in 08 yet faded in 09 as the man we are talking about, CJ, became THE MAN!
So here we are. Two backs seeming to make a stonrg case to their dominance! Can CJ make it 2 in a row? Recent history would say yes as only one RB in the ladt 9 years failed to lead 2 years in a row. AP is also starting to show he has LT type staying power and one of these years will take over that top spot.
One year wonders at the top RB spot in FF is not too common. You don't see long 5 year run very often, but riding hot hands, expecially the young ones, seems like a good historical trend to follow.
