Jets Team trainers believe WR Santonio Holmes sustained a broken rib in practice Saturday, the ESPN New York reports.
A lot of Jets WRs who are not household names will be getting a lot of extra work in camp and preseason. Keep your eyes open as somebody will have to step up as this opens a huge opportunity for jumping up the depth chart.

Buffalo wide receiver Stevie Johnson, who had offseason groin surgery, missed Saturday's practice with a sore groin, reported Chris Brown of the Bills' official team website. Sounds precautionary at this point. It shouldn't be a problem unless it continues to be a problem.... Doh.

For those of you who know all the Falcons RBs by heart.....Robbie Frey is gone.

Chicago Bears RB Matt Forte is already up to speed with some new routes in the passing game, and he spends special -teams periods of practice working with QB Jay Cutler and quarterbacks coach Jeremy Bates trying to learn more. Forte is making up for some lost off-season work.

Fourth-round WR Chris Givens has reportedly been "slightly ahead" of second-rounder WR Brian Quick early in Rams camp. Givens is slightly faster but Quick is still expected to beat him out in the long run.

The Chicago Bears plan to use RB Michael Bush for a bulk of the work around the goal line. Bush lined up in goal-line drills early last week, and offensive coordinator Mike Tice and running backs coach Tim Spencer confirmed that's the plan.

Brian Urlacher (knee) missed his third straight day of practice Friday night, ESPNChicago.com reports. "Brian's knee is still a little bit sore with a couple of other guys, but they should be good to go next week," Lovie Smith said. Urlacher was thought to have been getting a veteran day or two off, but now a bit of worry has been raised

Bills WR David Nelson is scheduled to start running on his own to test his strained right knee this weekend and if all goes well, he expects to return to practice Monday, the Associated Press reports. Sounds like good news for Nelson as observers who saw him go down thought the worst.

Cowboys RB Phillip Tanner has suffered a broken hand that requires surgery, and will be sidelined a minimum of 1-2 weeks.

Miami Dolphins WR Brian Hartline (calf) did not play in the team's scrimmage Saturday, Aug. 4, but is expected to return to practice in the near future.

QB David Garrard got in "far" more work with the starters than Matt Moore or Ryan Tannehill in Miami's Saturday scrimmage.

They are saying the x-rays were negative on Holmes(not broke just bruised) but still plan on him sitting out first pre-season game

Dallas Cowboys WR Miles Austin (hamstring) suffered a hamstring injury in practice Saturday, Aug. 4. Austin missed six games due to hamstring injuries in both legs last year. This guy's magical 2009 season is becoming more and more of a distant memory. He has just four 100-yard games in his last 24 starts.

Though Green Bay running back Alex Green has had limited snaps coming off a knee injury, Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel said Green has been a more dynamic performer than James Starks so far.

Not Xs and Os related, but the news of Garrett Reid's death is pretty tragic today. I hope that Andy and his family are coping well.
