There should be a free agent free-for-all over the next couple of days depending on how your league is set up.

Palmer to the Raiders is probably the biggest news but Lloyd to the Rams is not exactly peanuts.

Harrison back to Philly and Ronnie Brown packs for Detroit.

That's just the trades.

Other waiver wavering news is: Demarco Murray temporarily promoted to starter, Montereo Hardesty gaining favor with Cleveland, Christian Ponder gets his prayers answered and will start for Minny.

Which of these guys do you need to get on your roster....NOW.

I post a poll so no one has to give away their secrets. You can pick more than 1.

Personally, I'm not much of a waiver wire hawk.

I'd rather sit back and see who gets thrown away by the people who can't resist the next great player but sometimes you have needs and grabbing a "hopeful" is necessary.

Of the list above, Lloyd really doesn't belong there. His value took a major hit and he is not likely available on waivers...yet. Not a guy I would grab for immediate help but a nice talent for further down the road. Amendola, Lloyd and Alexander looks pretty sweet for the Rams in 2012.

Palmer is another "not this year" guy though I wouldn't bet the farm on that. I like him as a Lamonica, Plunkett, "throw 'till your arm falls off" kind of guy and rumors are that he has stayed in football shape. I don't need him but couldn't blame others for scarfing him up. He could reward with good trade value in weeks to come also.

Brown and Harrison are both signing in at the bottom of the depth chart, though I like both these guys' potential should the chips fall right. Best won't make it through a whole season but there is no guarantee that Brown will be the Heir Apparent....Harrison obviously wasn't.

Harrison looks to be the #2 right away (who the heck is McCoy's handcuff anyway?) but there must be a reason he couldn't beat out Maurice Morrison and Kieland Williams.

Demarco Murray looks really nice for an instant improvement to a weak RB team but may already be owned in your league. Jerry Jones is all about fanfare and will likely push the media button for this kid. We know that the boys aren't crazy about Choice, or Felix for that matter.

Hardesty is my favorite "Now and Later" pick up. Hillis is being stonewalled due to the Salary he will demand next year. Hardesty was SUPPOSED to be the real deal last year but injuries and Hillis got in his way. Hardesty, IMO, is the guy to grab NOW who will make a decent bye week replacement this week(s) and could be gold next year for you keeper leagues. I drafted him for this very reason and still have him tucked away.

Ponder doesn't excite me at all though he does have a very nice talent base around him. Something is wrong in Minnesota and I don't know what it is. McNabb should have done very well and he failed miserably. I don't think Ponder will fix anything.

Great post. I have been lucky so far with no injuries to my fantasy team so I really can't see anyone I can't "live without" but i agree that Hardesty has the most potential overall and immediate i would say as well. Demarco also has great immediate potential if he starts off decent otherwise he will split with Choice. In some deep leagues some of these others have value or if your team is injury ridden but i don't see decent numbers coming from anyone else on that list. You can never tell week to week with a new QB but i doubt consistency will be there. Of course if you have roster spots available it is good to pick some of these guys up just in case one of them goes "fantasy wild" to keep others in your league from improving.

Its hard to say whos the best pickup it all depends on your team but there is someone available at every position that can make an immediate impact or is a long term improvement. Murray for me!

Keen observation I believe also. McNabb isn't that bad arguably so even though Ponder clearly has the mechanics Minny may not have the tools to make him a fantasy-find like "no-win" Superman Cam Newton was.

I am gonna disagree with some here.

At this point, if you have had Rb injury issues like me, with Hillis and or Charles...you are looking for any edge in waivers. Losing early picks to injury will kill a fantasy season.

Rbs like Murray and R.Brown are worth a look in my opinion. Detroit has no running game at all if Best is out, Brown could jump in relatively soon, and produce there. Murray in Dallas is gold, if they ever really focus on running...as Felix is just one injury after another. Only competition is Choice...and he was on the block. I would definately go for either if available.

I agree Lloyd is probably still on someone's roster. But you can't ignore him going back to the OC that made him a star in the first place. Many years of mediocrity suddenly gone. You just can't ignore that. If there, nab him.

Harrison and Hardesty I will avoid. Harrison is just a back up. IF that since Neon Dion has hit Philly now(Dion Lewis the Rb...not the other guy  ), and Hardesty still looks too tentative to me to really dominate in a power cleveland running game.

of the Qbs, I would definately snag Ponder if you have the room. I watched the game last week, and the kid has spunk and made passes to key areas and key players. He made Harvin relevant again. He is a rookie and may make mistakes...but if you are hurting at Qb, he's worth a shot. Palmer I won't touch unless he shows he is back....otherwise Bengals just fleeced the Raiders...and don't let yourself get fleeced as well.

I feel Maurice Morris will out produce or stay real close to Brown in ppr leagues. He will out pace him for a few weeks outright. After the bye, if Best is back, then all bets are off. This week I like Morris.

Murray is the best pickup in every scoring format, and in either Dynasty or re-draft leagues. Lloyd is real interesting but that is really quite a mess in St.Louis right now.

Paragraph 1. I have C Johnson running back for Tenn. I need not say more to tell you I understand that point about losing early picks.

Paragraph 2. I am thrilled to have picked up Murray. So far we agree.

The other stuff you seem pretty much spot on. So nice post.

yu mean he didn't??

:help:

Gulp, well Demaryius Thomas would be nice too...:embarrassed:

I am so running back-minded the WR sleepers haven't really risen onto my radar, but you are right. He is about to. Rise that is.

I still don't like this yahoo report though:

"Thomas (finger) still has a plate and three screws in his left hand to repair his broken finger, the Denver Post reports.

Recommendation: The Broncos are expecting Thomas to return to form and try to replace some of the lost production from the Brandon Lloyd trade. However, Thomas hasn't had a full week of practice all year, so it's going to take some time for him to readjust to the speed of the game, not to mention new quarterback Tim Tebow. (Rotowire.com) Wed, Oct 19"

Daniel Thomas is too long gone to be on anybody's waiver wire! But he would have been a good one. Since Reggie Bush is Reggie Bush and all.

I think you now add Maurice Morris since the trade for Brown fell through.

Well I for one am very happy to have RB "Choices" because my running back squad is shot with dumping early draft pick Moreno a few weeks ago and Chris (the Bomb, meant in a bad way) Johnson is on bye this week. So I got Murray Monday and am now a happy as a pig in, well, you know "what" to have a contender on my RB squad this week. My other is Frank Gore. Murray will be better than Moreno this week and I'm playing the guy who picked up my discarded Moreno, so it'll be extra fun.

I'm just sharing how this wealth in waiver wire choices helped improve my team (to salute this thread).

I look for Moreno to recapture some additional carries. he looked pretty determined on his TD, and his style fits what this team is gonna have to play while trailing most of th time. I also feel Tebow can hit him with little dump off passes.

My appologies RC and you are absolutely correct!

D. Thomas should have absolutely been on the list as a player who's value may have suddenly changed and who is available in most leagues.

However, I still contend that D. Thomas is already on rosters in most leagues.
