Tressel Steps Down

damn......It just kept snow balling......hate to see this, but man you can not lie to the NCAA. Whole situation sucks.

Looks like Luke Fickel will be the interm coach for 2011 and I expect them to go 100% after Urban Meyer. Bob Stoops was offered in 2000, they could make another run at him again.

I certainly hate it for the Buckeye fans but as stated it seemed like it was coming to this for months. Either of the 2 you mentioned Miller can step in and the program stays at the top. Sorry Miller!

That I just do not see happening. He has stated in the past that he will not schedule Iowa and that if his sons develop into Div 1 prospects he would direct them to play for Iowa... hell his father was buried in a Hawkeye uniform. Coaching Ohio State puts him obviously in a position where he has to beat Iowa - something he does not want to ever have to do.

(Now if more Ohio natives were so smart)

This is a sad ending to another part of the OSU story. They have had a lot of problems in the past with alumni giving the players illegal gifts, etc. I can't say I'm really sorry to see him leave, but I do feel bad for the fans that expect better. Hopefully the NCAA won't come down too hard on the school for the actions of a few.

I am telling you now, Pryor will never play another game for the Buckeyes.

He better, or he will suck as a pro.

Hand writing was on the wall with this one. you get caught, then lie about it, and all hell breaks loose and everything comes out. This is a damn shame for the University.

Heard rumblings that Pryor has a good shot of heading to the supplemental draft

I honestly can not picture Pryor as an NFL QB. Talented yes - but a different talent set than is normally succesful in the NFL.

I will weigh in on this:

Tressel had a bad history when he went to Ohio State. They knew what they were getting in that department, and I believe they were lucky to get by as long as they did. That said, he was a great coach and probably would have been the best in Ohio State's proud history had it not gone south for him.

Now I dont blame the university for standing by him at least through national signing day, and I do blame the NCAA for showing favor by letting those guys who were clearly ineligible play in the bowl game. This was the only possible outcome for Tressel, and Im not sure the NCAA is going to show any leiniency because they kept him around so long.

Regarding Pryor, I think the right kind of coach could mold him into a serviceable backup, ala Joe Webb in Minnesota for example, but he needs to fall on the sword and enter the supplemental draft. I agree with Miller, his days as a Buckeye are over.

Im expecting the NCAA will force Ohio State to vacate at least last season in the win column and force them to surrender their share of the Big 10 title. I dont expect them to have Ohio State vacate the Sugar Bowl win since they already knew about this stuff and allowed the kids to play. Going to be pretty stupidin seeing the 2011 Sugar Bowl game winner be a 1-12 team.

A win for Brady Hoke and Michigan and honestly a sad day for College Football.

One of the worst parts of the lieing sweater vest's "character" is that in the late 80s, he ran youth football camps. At the end of the camp, all the kids could buy raffle tickets to win gear. The Weasel rigged those raffles in order for the better players/prospects to win the gear. That is so wrong on so many levels.

QB Terrelle Pryor has reportedly decided to end his Ohio State career.
Pryor's exit was fully expected after the fallout in Columbus over the past couple of weeks. Pulling up to campus in a shiny new car last week was a dead giveaway. Pryor would have to sit out five games if he stays in college, which makes him a prime candidate for the supplemental draft. ESPN's Todd McShay and Mel Kiper have joined CBS' Rob Rang in predicting that Pryor will have to switch positions in the NFL. He won't be any higher than a fourth- or fifth-round pick if the supplemental draft takes place next month. Source: Doug Lesmerises on Twitter
