TO signs with the Bengals

Ugh,

We've been bashing TO ever since he became an FA (he's through, no one will take him, etc, etc, etc.)

Now a team picks him up and suddenly he's changed the face of the AFC North, he's WR2 material and he's raised the value of his QB.

Funny how 31 other teams couldn't see the profound positive impact that TO was gonna have on their team.....for months they couldn't see it.

Maybe t. owens and j. russell can play catch with each other. and maybe even play for a cfl team that wants has beens and never will bes.

I feel that his time in Buffalo has very little to do with the lack of expressed interest in the big mouthed, formally talented WR.

I really dont see T.O. a good fit on any NFL team, he wants to much money, has a huge ego he cant live up to any more, at his age being at least a step slower along with his disruptive behavior has burned every bridge he's crossed

AFL CFL UFL may want him

Suggs needs to STFU....:eek:rder:

Owens needs to be kept far away from the Raven's, they have put together a pretty decent team, which has the potential to maybe even get to the SB, we do NOT need a cancer like Owens ruining the chemistry...

I love fantasy football. :trampolin

I think the Bengals need to send expressions of thanks to all the teams that were in the press saying they were not interested in T O. This was a despiration deal for T O and a one year deal with incentives is comparatively cheap for the Bengals. The "fireworks" on and off the field will be priceless.

Teckie.....the big thing that changed in the situation is that TO went from demanding 5 mil a year to accepting 2 mil with 2 mil in incentives. No one has ever questioned his work ethic so I don't think we can expect anything but a motivated TO given that 1/2 his money is tied to him being productive. So the living up to the contract part was taken care of by the Bengals in their take it or leave it offer.

TO has also always been the lone ego trip in town......he now is not, and he's joined someone else's team......this is COC's town and TO will not be the main attraction. Now the CO and the TO show together will be for a while but I actually think the two of them will be good. Much like I was in favore of Marshall and COC together.....TO is just a 1 year rentaal as opposed to Marshall who could have been the future but the chemistry fit is similar. I think the two will actually feed off each other.

This is not without risk, it is very risky. It also isn't something I have always been wild about......but the key for me is the contract was perfect. Good price with good incentives to keep him motivated. TO shut up and played in Buffalo last year.....with COC around it's easy to say he won't shut up this year, but I do think he concentrates on his play and proving to the other 31 teams that the future HOFer still has a little something in the gas tank.

As far as the fantasy impact, this was about as good of a landing spot as he could have landed in. He has a legit threat on the other side of the field, a strong running game to take heat off the receivers and a good QB throwing to him that is used to putting up with two diva WR's (he had to put up with COC and Housh until last year). TO will be a great redzone target and should be a threat to catch to 10 TD's. Don't expect big yards or receptions, but the TD's should be there.

This could change as I see him in camp, but at this point I would project him at the following:
60 rec - 840 yds - 9 TD's
That would have put him as the 21st WR in basic leagues (right between Calvin and Jennings) and the 23rd in ppr leagues (right between Calvin and Sims-Walker). So WR2 isn't out of the question given the spot he landed in.

This does all but kill Antonio Bryant's fantasy impact IMO.

If T.O is still a force, why aren't any teams Bengals and Bills willing to sign him to a multi year contract ??

The dude is nothing but trouble and most teams aren't willing to deal with his ego and declining skills.

This is going to blow up in the Bengals face :xpopcorn:

I can't see it not happening as you predict 007. I wonder if I could come up with some sort of prop bet for the season, maybe an over or under mid-season meltdown on the sidelines.

However, as long as TO holds it together I firmly believe that he improves the club.

I will disagree with both you and Deringer mud. I don't think it blows up at all.

OR if it does, I don't think it will be T.O.

Honestly, most forget cincy in past had Housh (who whined all the damn time) and Ocho....having 1000yard seasons...and Rudi Johnson topping over 1300 yards. They can get the ball around to make them all happy.

But they have to win.

He is so cheap that I dont think it can "blow up" in their faces. If he doesnt produce they are out 2 mil but if he plays well he will be well worth the 4 mil.

Best line from camp today:

Reporter: Chad how long are you going to keep playing?

Chad: "Till I am old and gray, you know like Favre....but with a much better tan1"

B/C they are smart.....TO is like a stripper! Dating her is fun, you just don't enter a long term relationship with her....why in the hell would you sign a guy who seems to be good in his first year with a team but sour after that, to long term deal?? That reasoning makes no focking sense!!

You want to date TO, not be committed to him....

By only signing him to a 1 year contract T.O. will be forced to play at a high level and keep his mouth shut if he wants to play for any team next year.

He played in Buffalo last year with minimal incidents but he was top WR there. Here with Ocho on Ochos team in Ocho land he will crumble. His pride will take a hit and mentally he wont handle it well. Bring on the season, can't wait for this duo to crumble.

Not sure how I ended up on the TO bandwagon but let me clarify....

TO is an aged POS and will do nothing to enhance the Bengals offense.

Carson Palmer (bless his heart) now has to babysit TWO egomaniacs and his performance will suffer because of it.

Look for an increase in interceptions as Palmer forces balls to the whiniest WR in order to keep peace in the locker room.

Not biased are we ;) At the very least, he becomes the best redzone target on the team. They are extremely weak in this area and this is a spot he enhances greatly.

Carson Palmer (bless his heart) now has to babysit TWO egomaniacs and his performance will suffer because of it.
And this is any different than the majority of his career how?? He has been babysitting COC and Housh for years and his numbers were pretty damn good with that duo. Make no mistake about it, Housh is a diva and whiny as hell himself.

Since 07 Palmer's TD to INT ratio has not been the best anyways, so saying he's going to throw more int's isn't exactly going out on a limb. But Palmer's INT's are not due to him forcing to certain player's.....he's had to deal with COC his entire career.....he's had to deal with both COC and Housh for a large majority of it.....again, what has changed there?

Not liking TO is one thing, I get it, not my favorite player in the world either. But let's take the emoition out and take it for what it is. He's not a world beater, but he can be solid in the right system and this is a system that has a big need for the things he can still do well. Having another diva around is something that I think may actually be good for TO.....Chad and him are close off the field and this should help with the chemistry. As far as Palmer, I think he has proven he can deal with the outragious personalitles.....till I see he can't, I see no reason to worry about that. i worry about his deteriorating mechanics far more than I worry about his ability to deal with these two ego's.

Buffalo has no O-line, no credible Qb, and had one of the worst designed offenses in the league last year. Don't blame that on T.O.
