This trade will probably go through

A guy with a 1-7 record is trading tom brady (91 pts, and his best player) to his brother for steve smith of car (29 pts all year) - i fear it will be allowed by the commissioner - can i do anything?

I dont think the trade is that bad.

Brady has been mediocre at best since Moss left, and I can probably STREAM a WW QB in an average 12 team league that I like as much as Brady most weeks. (he has only 1 TD in each of his last 4 games).

Steve Smith looked decent last week, 9 grabs - 85 yards.

Unless you could prove this is CLEAR collusion, I would not veto this trade.

It's true Brady hasn't been elite this year as far as fantasy stats go. I'm about to switch to Eli for awhile in one league. If the Brady team has other nice alternatives and has as many WR injuries as one of my dynasty teams does Steve Smith could be very attractive.

this is not a dynasty league... and all i really feel like all i need is the 91 vs 29 pts... however, it is also his brother... ive heard him say that he gives up... and even if brady is "mediocre" with 1 td in his past 4 games... steve smith hs 2 TD's... ALL SEASON... and 309 total yards. oh, and if YOU had Tom Brady or this guy wasnt 1-7 - dont you think youd find a little better option from the list of : Hakeen Nicks, Brandon Marshall, Kenny Britt, Jabar Gaffney, and Mike Sims Walker? or even go for Michael Turner? YOure telling me that a QB... "mediocre" or not, is worth the WORST receiver of 6? please. this is about as clear as it gets i would think

Sorry Gizil, your argument is totally flawed! Your comparing a QB in scoring to a WR????? Plus steve Smith was missing for a long time as well.

If im the brothers, this is my reply:

Can I trade you Kyle Orton for Chris Johnson? Simply using your argument. Orton has roughly 150 points in a standard scoring league, CJ has 125. Orton also has a 12 to 8 TD lead.

Your comparing apples to oranges! If I was commish, I still need CLEAR collusion before I veto this trade. Also, i dont think coachnorm meant if its a dynasty league. I think (and if he meant this I agree), if I have a team that is deep at QB (like i have Eli Manning or Big Ben on my bench), but hurting at WR, I would EASILY trade Brady for Steve Smith from Carolina. I dont lose much on QB and I gain a potential WR2.

im sorry i just disagree. you dont trade away your best player for a wr with nobody throwing to him. perhaps im wrong... i hope im in a league with those of you tht believe this is a fair trade one day... cuz i take tom brady 10/10 times in this case.

Doesnt matter if you take Tom Brady a million out of a million times.

If that is your argument for a veto, no trade will go through. Some side HAS to win. Thats what a TRADE is.

If I take CJ over AP 10 times out of 10? Is now a CJ for AP trade a veto? :headscratch:

if you want a legitimate argument for a veto, here it is.

Tom Brady is what i would consider, even when struggling, a second or third tier QB. Steve Smith, when nobody is capable of getting him the ball, is what i would consider a 4th or even 5th tier receiver. I dont see how you get around it

It doesnt matter when they were drafted or point differential. Trades are going to be lobsided based on positions needed and bench available. If he has another QB to start but is weak at WR the trade makes sense. As far as best player your QB will usually outscore every week there are plenty of QBs with more points than Tom Brady sitting on the WW.

That is yet another weak argument, that if I am one of the brothers, I can squash. If your in a standard league. That means you start 1 QB, and 3 WR, and its 12 team. That means you only start 12 QBs, while you draft 36 WRs. That means if you have the 7th QB, thats in the lower half, so if you have the 20th WR, thats the SAME tier.

If you go by PPG, Steve Smith is not ranked in the 60s, he missed time, and now he is back and 100%.

But special thanks to JackG for having a great memory, I just went into google and just pulled the first Mock I came up for mid-season drafts:

Shuffle Up and Draft: Midseason PPR Special - Roto Arcade - Fantasy - Yahoo! Sports

Now mind you, its an 8 person PPR, and they picked head coaches too, so thats why some names might seem off but lets focus on the two people from this trade:

6.06 Cuozzo: Steve Smith (Car)
11.08 A-Mak: Tom Brady

Thats the last point I am going to make about this.

I think the trade is fine. You need to prove clear collusion to veto a trade like this. If he traded his K for Brady, then I would be on your side.

i feel like im taking crazy pills. just cuz dummies drafted smith high and he got hurt hes worth something? if anything his being hurt diminishes his value... in addition, i wouldnt have drafted steve smith of carolina at all. not at the beginning of the year, and certainly if someone dropped him he could rot there for all i care. if you use the argument of 3wr/1qb... the 7th QB is then the 21st wr... so... lance moore (he already has) or miles austin... i could easily swallow that trade. if my math is correct, steve smith would be worth the 21/22 QB - vince young and shaun hill. if they were trading these guys (but really why bother) i would have no problem with it haha. not to mention everyone involved has basically admitted its lopsidedness and said if i make a formal complaint on the message board it will be vetoed most likely. then, however, i look like a dick, as im the 8-0 guy crying unfair with a three game big points lead but ALWAYS lose playoffs. so i probably just let it happen, and end up getting beat by homeboys lil bro in the playoffs... ugh
