The Patriots acquired Haynesworth from the Redskins for a 2013 fifth-round draft pick, ESPN Boston reports. Damm......... those wily Patriots are always pulling stuff like this.

OMG how did they do that!? Any other team on the phone and Was would be like, "5th rounder? You gotta do better than that!" I'm starting to think that Belichick is a Jedi. "These are not the droids you're looking for..."

Not only 5th rounder, but 2013 5th rounder. By NFL trading standards that's a 2012 6th.

It's not nearly Aso going to the Jets but I still like it :jiggy:

It's not like it brings them up to Packer territory or even in the region, but is is a nice little something to help Bill feel better about himself! lol! j/k

Also hearing, Haynesworth forfeited his guaranteed 2011 salary ($5.4 million) by skipping 2010 minicamps with the Redskins so the Pats aren't on the hook for that part of his deal so they are only investing in the base part of Haynesworths salary and not the bonus/guaranteed money.

Getting Haynesworth on the super cheap is Belichick's MO, he will get the most out of Haynesworth then drop him like a used up hooker.

Hate to admit it but Belichick is a fricken genius

he takes low risk high reward gambles. And he doesnt mind cheating to get an edge.

Unlike those teams that trip players along the sideline. Glass houses deuce, glass houses.

I agree though, that there's no "genius" in due diligence. They just seem to keep get these vets on the cheap.
