There is a growing notion that the Jags need a new QB, or maybe not. I think some of this is due to some nervousness that the MJD era may be closing in a few years.
Let me say a few things.
While Garrard has had some slumps I have also seen him have some great games moving the O very well.
This years QB crop is said to be not a great one so it may not be the best year to go after a rookie QB.
In the NFL teams can do very well with a trio that consists of great WR, a great RB and a good QB.
While you can make a good case For and Against Garrard I see a different problem. They haven't developed or obtained a true Number one WR since Jimmy Smith has left the scene. I won't go through all the WRs but just give my general observation. There has been a constant rotation at WR for many years. Someone becomes the X WR and then is out performed by the Y WR who becomes the X WR the following year only to outperformed by the Y WR or even the Z guy. The details vary a bit from year to year the names are always changing but the WR corps is in constant flux. It just seems that if everytime your new X WR gets double teamed his production drops and the Y guy looks better. Which suggests to me that none of these guys have been a true #1.
So rather than drafting a QB I would be looking to get Santonio Holmes from the Jets in Free Agency.
