Tebow wants more $$ than Dez

rotoworld,
ESPN's Ed Werder reports that No. 25 overall pick Tim Tebow wants a larger contract than No. 24 overall pick Dez Bryant.

It's not like the Crabtree-Heyward-Bey situation, though. QBs almost always get more money than non-quarterback rookies, and Werder passes along a "high degree of confidence" in Denver that Tebow will sign and report by the weekend. If he does hold out, it shouldn't be longer than a day or two.

T.Tebow is a 2 year project and has no leverage to be demanding anything right now, 5 years down the road could be a little different.

The nerve of of this guy :xpissed:

I don't know man, I think Tebow knows what he kinda "means" to McDaniels after the draft. He has enough leverage I think to get what he wants there.

What he means to McDaniels and the Broncos V.S. immediate impact dont carry much weight to me, give him an escalating contract that pays him close to what he wants 2-3 years down the road.

I dont like Tebow, he will never get any love from me :nonoblue:

I don't like the guy either, but you're talking about a 1st round QB. They're not drafted to not play. They're not drafted to not be the future. What McDaniels got was a guy that just need fundamentals work. That's cake for Josh. What's really hard to find, is a winner. Regardless how you feel about Tim, there's no proof that he's anything but a champion. QBs get paid more, he was 1 pick behind Dez Bryant. I'm pretty positive he'll get the deal he wants.

Well the Raiders prove the point. How many opportunities did they give Russell? The answer is too much! But they HAD to. You cannot make that kind of pick and give up on it easily.

You're right of course. Another point it proves is that it isn't always smart to give the player what they want.

Tebow is just trying to make the most out of his situation. He was lucky to be taken in the first and is going to try to capitalize from it while he can. Danny Weurffel never got this chance.

I can remember a time when Tim Tebow said "If I go to the NFL, it won't be about the money." This kind of speaks otherwise, don't you think?

As a side note:
"7.27.10 ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Tim Tebow has agreed to a multiyear contract -- not with the Denver Broncos, but with Jockey International Inc. to be an underwear spokesman."

At least it is a contract for a men's product and not a pantyhose contract like Namath had.
