Tebow trying to get better

Danny Wuerffel was very intelligent, too. And quite righteous as well.. And a Heisman-Winning Gator QB!!!

Yeah, and he went in the 4th round and didnt have to change anything because he threw for numbers just like Manning did and won a Heisman!

Sure was a bad choice for New Orleans to take a flyer on that guy, almost as smart as Pittsburgh passing on Dan Marino in 1983 for a DT or Boomer Esiason in 1984 for a WR to stick with Cliff Stoudt, Mark Malone, and David Woodley at QB. Man they hit that shit on the head passing on those guys. That draft I tell ya, what an exact science! Isnt it just amazing how we can look at a guy and automatically just know whether or not he is going to be a success in the pros.

A good coaching staff will take an exceptional athlete and make the system fit around him. The guy is super talented, and a hard worker. I think the only way he becomes a bust is if he lands in a bad system.

Besides, what is the definition of a "pro style" offense these days? NFL offenses are changing constantly these days to fit the new offensive friendly rules.

Sarge, not sure exactly what you're arguing against although that was some tremendous research.
I really only had 1 opinion in the first place, which was thinking it was stupid to wait until 2 months prior to draft day to decide you want to be a pro QB when you grow up. Had nothing to do with UF changing their entire system because he could've fixed his mechanics and still performed in the spread-option. I then felt that his situation and Manning's were quite different as far as making the adjustment to the NFL game. There's a reason why Tebow's nowhere near consideration for the #1 overall pick as Peyton was, although he was clearly the more successful COLLEGE quarterback.

For the record, I couldn't be, nor have I ever been more Neutral about a high-profile player's draft stock than I am with Tebow. I don't really think he'll be a bust but I don't really think he'll be a star. However, I wouldn't be completely surprised if he's either. I'm not really pulling FOR or AGAINST him because I'm neither a fan, nor a hater. I acknowledge that he's been a very hard worker, but I also think he's been much more self-serving than most people want to admit.
If everyone is prepared for him to win multiple Walter Payton M.O.Y. awards throughout his career, as opposed to multiple MVP's or Pro Bowls.. I think that's the likeliest scenario.
He could arguably be the greatest overall player the NCAA has ever seen, I freely admit that. Unfortunately, the historical landscape is littered with guys who utterly owned college and their superior athletic skills just didn't quite translate. There's no shame in that.

After seeing Tim Tebow reveal his new throwing style yesterday during the Gator Pro Day, five teams have scheduled a private workout session with the Florida Quarterback. The teams include:New England Patriots, Washington Redskins, Cleveland Browns, Buffalo Bills, and Seattle Seahawks.

Charlie Casserly was on NFL Network this morning saying he wouldn't take Tebow before round 4. I realize it's just an opinion, but the guy knows his stuff..............

I am so sick of Tebow. Nothing against the guy personally, but christ, the entire edition of NFL live yesterday was about the Tebow pro day. I can't remember this type of hype on a potential 3rd round pick in my lifetime.............:blah:

OK. So Tebow has a new throwing motion, what will happen when the going gets tough in the trenches will he revert back to his old habits, throwing years one way and weeks another dont make him a proven high commodity just yet

Guess that would depend on his coaching. I see no reason to not expect him to make changes like this longterm.

NFL | Holmgren has some reservations about Tebow's new motion Fri Mar 19, 11:55 AM

Tony Grossi, of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, reports Cleveland Browns president Mike Holmgren has some reservations about University of Florida QB Tim Tebow's new throwing motion because he is worried that Tebow may go back to his original motion when he is under pressure. 'I just think in the heat of battle guys will usually revert [to old form],' Holmgren said. 'I think, and I told him this, that he was so thinking about his mechanics that at times it looked a little robotic.'

Our view: We applaud Holmgren for stating the truth here. Most in the media are showering Tebow with compliments about his new throwing motion, but we weren't that impressed by it. Yes, it's better than his old throwing motion which you could time with a sun dial because it was so slow. However, he does look robotic and you can tell he's definitely thinking about it instead of just throwing. It's good improvement from what we saw at the Senior Bowl, but he's far from being NFL ready.

i value holmgren's opinion a whole lot more than casserly's.

At this point I'll accept robotic. Did you expect him to look like he has been doing it all along? He is addressing a concern and I interpreted the praise to be taking into consideration how much improvement he has made in a short period of time rather than him looking like Manning/Brady... out there.

Not a knock on on Holmgren or Casserly but I'll take both of their opinions with an extra shaker of salt.

i hear ya . . . lol . . . holmgren could actually really like the kid and just be blowing smoke so he can grab him later . . . who knows? . . . way too much media hype over all of this though.

Good point. But my guess is they would have gone fairly soon after the points they were taken.........

Anyway, everything I see (especially on NFL Network) is kind of a "meh" reaction to his pro day. It's a scripted environment with nobody trying to bash your brains out. Can't believe a team would move him dramatically up their board based on his new throwing motion.

Guess we'll see soon enough though...........
