Tavaris Jackson not tendered

(TheHuddle) The Minnesota Vikings brought an end to the QB Tarvaris Jackson experiment by not extending a qualifying tender offer to him, reports Judd Zulgad and Chip Scoggins, of The Minneapolis Star Tribune. Jackson is now free to sign with any other team that he chooses. Jackson was believed to be the team's quarterback of the future after being drafted in the second round of the 2006 NFL Draft, but it never developed as the team would have hoped. He started a career-high 12 games in 2007, but was replaced early in the 2008 season and then spent most of the last two years backing up QB Brett Favre. Jackson noted earlier this year that a change of scenery and a fresh start might be what he needs.
Analysis: What with Arena Ball, the CFL, the USFL firing back up... there are plenty of places for Jackson to prove Brad Childress right in his belief that he can play quarterback. And he may actually get another look at the NFL level; yes, the league's quarterback situation is that pathetic.
This suprises me. Who else do they have on the roster ??

It is a bit surprising, Joe Webb had a nice a game when the Vikes beat the Eagles week 16 in the Tues Night game. But still you have some QBs.

Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave said he likes what he has seen from QB Joe Webb while watching tape, reports Sid Hartman, of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. "He's a great athlete and looks like he's got some composure and poise to him as well. He made some good decisions and some good judgments. I like the way he climbs up in the pocket, keeping his eyes downfield," Musgrave said.

I'm a bit surprised by this move as well. Jackson was obviously not making the progress that the team wanted him to make, but he is an outstanding athlete. Maybe he'll catch on as a specialist somewhere?

Dont see why everyone is so suprised. He never had a snowballs chance in hell in Minny. If he did they wouldnt have brought in Webb. Dont really know if he is or ever will be starter material but a solid back up i think. So many teams needing QBs next year, he'll get a second look.

Im with you why is everyone surprised.

My dad told me this but I haven't heard anything so I thought he was just doing wishful thinking on his part. He wasn't a Tavaris fan at all.

I still keep hearing Orton is gonna be there. (might just be little voices in my head though)

Numerous sources now say they have no want nor desire for Orton. They will draft someone, or try and make a trade or maybe look for a stop gap like McNabb if available.

Why do teams keep trading or talking about Orton? Do teams/people really think he's that great? Really honestly, how many SB does he have again? Whats his w-l record against good teams? C'mon people he's mediocre at best. He'll never win a SB for you and i sure as hell wouldnt want him out there with the game on the line. With that being said watch karma kick my ass and bring him to Jax. DOH!
