As much as it would be a good story to have him stay I think this is a smart move by the Steelers. The Steelers are stacked at WR with Sanders, Brown, Cotchery and Wallace. Now they just have to make sure they keep Wallace.
I think this has the potential to be bad for Pitt. Not because he's really that good any more, but he's such a locker room presence and leader for that team and the young WR's that I think this will be felt by them this year. I also think there is a very real possibility that a team forces Pittsburgh's hand and makes it so they CAN"T keep Wallace. Losing your vet leader and your most talented WR would be a major blow to this franchise.
they have huge issues - Had to make vet cuts on both sides of the ball, may have holes on OL due to salary issues, loss of leadership in Ward, and potential loss of best wr in Wallace. Add the fact that Mendenhall might not be ready for start of season. Yuck is all I can say....
ugh - i hate to say it but this reeks of typical mccaskey bears move (picking up ward, an over the hill, but seemingly still decent wr) - and im leaning towards no... i guess we'll see if emery is a puppet of ownership or on his own. i think wayne would be the better vet pick up but who knows what the pricetag is gonna be either way - either way hines was a pittsburgh staple and seemingly a guy who played hard, and the right way - if sometimes a lil cheap throwin blocks
