Steelers agreed to terms with WR Jerricho Cotchery on a two-year contract. A bit of a surprise as the eggsberts said Cotchery was not Steeler WR scheme. While a one years deal wouldn't have surprised me that much a two year deal was a bit of a surprise. A nice combination of an unexcited Free Agent market, combined with what I suspect is a very cap friendly deal, has Cotchery adding a lot of depth to the Steeler WR corp for the next couple of years.

good pick up for them. looks like they will be going defensive in the draft trying to get some youth now.

This could be a must, as reports are now surfacing that Wallace won't sign the tender offer. So there may be an extended hold out for Wallace. Which also backs up all the reports we heard that he wants too much money, which is why no one has filed an offer for him.

OMG Wallace would be a great addition here. Must be wanting alot of money if the Rooneys aren't signing him right now. Almost drooling to think what it would look like with Blackmon or Floyd on one side, Wallace on the other , Dude from Dallas in the slot, Mercedes Lewis having his groove back and Mike Thomas rotating in and out. MJD could have a great year, that all goes accordingly if Gabbert gets better from last year.

Wallace is facing an uphill battle given the nuances to what a team will have to give up to get him.....

A little Wallace info:

Wallace will not sign his one-year restricted free agent tender any sooner than June 15, Reuters reports. Any team that wants to sign Wallace away from Pittsburgh will need to get him to sign an offer prior to April 20, so he certainly will not sign Pittsburgh's one-year offer prior to then. At the June 15 point, however, Wallace's tender would drop to $577,500 rather than the $2.742 million initial tender. They had to give Wallace a pay raise in order to attach a first round pick to him. I didn't know the number could go down after that.

So still go a week to go. 2.7 mil to 577 thou, didnt realize it dropped either. Big drop too. Looks like he would lose alot of money if he doesn't sign before next friday unless he holds out afterwards for more money. Don't think he'd be worth a 1st round trade and that money. Jax has done that before and we lost our asses on him. Money and 3rd rounder i could go for maybe. Still wanting to see what we do in the draft first. Isn't Wallace getting up there in age?

Only 26, thought he was older than that. He'd be a great addition here , just sure on that money thing. And probably they will want a 1st rounder also attached to the deal. Kinda steep but this is a passing league and its not like we have any WR to scream about right now, yet.

Think its a message from higher ups telling Wallace, fine we're prepared to move on w/o you if thats what you decide to do. Still think he will be a Steeler next season.

Haven't heard anything about any trade rumors or teams trying to get him lately. They'll come to a deal before anybody decides that the cost of getting him is reasonable. Betting they would want a lot.

Cotch is just an ehhh signing for me. He's never really taken the next step that some thought he would. Just don't see this as anything more than a depth play with no fantasy impact.

They got Wallace in the 3rd round. This draft is so ridiculously deep at WR, finding the next Wallace in the 4th/5th is a very real possibility. If Sanders can ever stay healthy, he and Brown can be a legit 1/2 punch for years.
Cotchery's nice because he just shows up with a lunch pail, doesn't squawk, and catches a timely pass every now and then.
If they really want Wallace longterm, they have some contracts coming off the books soon like Mendenhall and Hampton that will free up some space. If Wallace is truly wanting Larry Fitz money, he's not getting it at Pittsburgh, or probably anywhere else.
