Spinoff: Rookie draft thoughts, what about QBs?

QBs. Cassel, EManning, Campbell
RBs. SJax, KMoreno, McGahee, TJones, F.Jackson
WRs. ?

Cassell solidifies your QB and Moreno will hopefully offset the loss of Gore but I do like the pick up of Jones as a viable situational starter - something I would not like going into the season counting on Jax or Morris for.

Did not see who your WRs were - how are they compared to having had the opportunity to snag Crabs at 1.02?

Housh & Roddy are my corp, then I have some "potential" and a few ok fill-in's for WR3 (S.Smith, Gage, Camarillo, Dem.Williams, M.Kelly, Jarrett)

Pick 1.11 is OTC and Maclin/Hey-Bey/Nicks are all still on the board. I have 2.06 + 2.08 to work with to move up to grab a rookie WR. This is another reason I felt I could pass on Crabtree, that I had the ammo to move up and grab one of the other top WRs from this class.

Holy crap!! You're to pick 1.11 and no one has taken Maclin yet??

Here's how our draft so far... with the caveat that there are a few NY homers in this group (bet you'll never guess who ) and a few that drafted/reached strictly on need.

1.01. Knowshon Moreno, RB, DEN
1.02. Chris "Beanie" Wells, RB, AZ
1.03. Michael Crabtree, WR SF
1.04. Matthew Stafford, QB, DET
1.05. Donald Brown, RB, IND
1.06. Mark "Dirty" Sanchez, QB, NYJ
1.07. Josh Freeman, QB, TB
1.08. LeSean McCoy, RB, PHI
1.09. Shonn Greene, RB, NYJ
1.10. Andre Brown, RB NYG
1.11. Percy Harvin, WR, MIN
1.12. Hakeem Nicks, WR, NYG
2.01. Jeremy Maclin, WR, PHI
2.02. Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR, OAK
2.03. Gartrell Johnson, RB, SD
2.04. Kenny Britt, WR, TEN

I don't care much for next year's picks when you can keep this year's and win. Flags fly forever and if that other guy finishes middle of the pack, you have a worse player than you would've had this year.
Cassel won't do much this season IMO, until they start building some pieces around him. You did as well as could be expected with the trade, though.

I respect your point of view here WD, and if I was the type of drafter that just sat on my picks and took BPA when I was up I would completely agree. However, I'm a big believer in accumulating picks in future drafts for the sake of having ammo to move around and go after a target rather than waiting to see what falls to me (like the Eagles and Patriots are so good at doing in the NFL draft). So I'm not looking at the newly acquired 2010 1st rounder as a possible lower pick than what I gave up. I look at it as leverage to be able to move up to 1.01 if need be or to move back for additional lower picks for depth or to trade again for a 2011. I added very good rookie pieces this season in Moreno and Maclin, AND put myself in position to add similar pieces in the future. After all I am trying to build a dynasty, not one-and-done (I'm exaggerating with the 1&done but you know what I mean).
