Singletary has been getting too much credit.

What has he done as a Coach? It is one drama after another in his 2 years or so as a Coach. (Lockeroom crap, practice field crap, gametime crap, him crying crap, him being the tough guy crap) All I see is him losing all of the time and looking like crap!

-- Mike Singletary Admits to Poor Sportsmanship --
Sun Oct 10, 2010 --from FFMastermind.com
Fox Sports' John Czarnecki reports many in Atlanta thought it was bush of 49ers HC Mike Singletary to not shake hands with Falcons HC Mike Smith after last Sunday’s game. Smith stood around midfield for over a minute waiting and looking for Singletary, only to be told that he had turned away and headed into the locker room. Singletary apparently was upset that he never got a second interview in Atlanta when the job went to Smith. Singletary did admit last week that he displayed poor sportsmanship in failing to meet Smith.

Well, since he has been there, they have upgraded their roster and worked on the areas that winning teams are built on, OL and defense. He has also instilled "attitude" to the team.

He has made mistakes, mainly hiring Jimmy Rae, but they are moving in the right direction long term despite the horrible start. I think he is the right guy for the job and once they get a real QB and a good OC, the team will take off.

Could/should have beat the Saints and had last weeks game won in Atlanta until Nate Clements decided that scoring a meaningless TD was more important than winning the game. If Clements recognizes the situation and gets down, Niners win that game. If the team is 2-2, which they should be, then none of this is an issue.

Worst thing SF could do at this point is fire Mike and "start over". Get the right OC in place and get a real QB. Problem fixed.......

I agree with all of this. He has just gotten more credit for being a GOOD Coach than he should at this point. He has been a good motivator, and motivation only gets you so far. Now he needs to Coach, and he will likely get better.
