Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck may slip away during Free Agency

ESPN's John Clayton predicts that the Seahawks will not be able to re-sign free agent QB Matt Hasselbeck. If the Seahawks were serious about retaining the 36-year-old Hasselbeck, they would've gotten a deal done before the lockout. "I think they'll let him test the market," speculates Clayton. "At this stage, I'd say the odds are now slipping away that Matt's going to be (in Seattle)." Clayton mentioned the Dolphins, Cardinals, and Vikings as potential Hasselbeck suitors.

Of the three, the Dolphins are probably his best bet offensive line wise. At least he has a solid frachise tackle to protect him there in Miami, and if had Marshall to throw to and DWill running, it could work for a year.

Color me silly. But considering what Miami just went through with Pennington, does Hasselbeck really make sense?!?!?! I mean how many fragile aging Qbs can you depend on? dunno:

Just looked up Miamis' roster and all they have is Tyler Thigpen and Chad Henne. And we've seen how well they have worked out. One or the other as a back up is fine but you can't have 2 backup QBs trying to be starters. Neither one will take you to the next level. Makes complete sense why they are looking but as already stated, after the Pennington incident, you'd think they would have learned their lesson.

I see what you are saying, but Pennington was a much higher injury risk than Hass.

Miami's o-line is better than Seattle's, right? I mean, it HAS to be, right? Hass should be fine.

can't see Has going anywhere myself.

I think they are both just doing a "chicken dance" with negotiations. Seattle needs him for 2 more years, but are just trying to go cheap. Hope it doesn't backfire on them

He needs a home run RB behind to make it a good couple years in Seattle. Who really fears Lynch/Forsett>?

Bull. He needs a new spine, which his is messed up. He needs about 3 years added to him. He needs an impenetrible line. Then a Rb that can carry the damn ball every down.

In other words, he needs to retire. Again, Miami would be fools to do this again, just after Pennington.
