Joe Bryant of football guys reported this tonight via email and states at this point it is just rumor, but the rumor is coming from a source at ESPN 1070 in Indy. He is reporting that Manning will require a 2nd procedure and will be out indefinitely. Keep in mind, this is just rumor at this point, but if this is true this is a crippling hit to all things Indy from a fantasy perspective.

Every source I can find this morning says that a second surgery will not be needed but they all stress that he's likely to miss at least 1 or 2 starts with some saying he'll miss 4 or more games. Somebody throw me a life preserver, I'm about to drown in my own tears.

Maybe Collins comes out with the keys to Mannings car and drives it like he stole it #iownsomecoltsandhavenohope

However, The Colts DST should be moved up several ranks due to the amount of teams that will be running to kill clock and preserve 4th quarter leads.

Could be Dawg but I viewed it the other way thinking move them down due to the offense at Indy leaving their defense hung out to dry. Not that there's a whole lot of room to move them down ya know, I'm just saying...lol.

Morty has come out and said that there will be no second procedure done on Mannings neck. But does that clear anything up? Just the fact that they were examining looking into the possibility of needing a second procedure is an admission the recovery is not going as well has been hoped. Mike Freeman of CBS Sports is saying the coaching staff is planning with the idea that Manning misses 2-3 games as a best case scenario and 3-5 missed as a worst case scenario. That sounds reasonable considering what we don't know about this situation. If there was a a possibility of the time frame being longer (6 or more games) then a second procedure would become a much more likely solution to the problem.

Nah Coach. I try not to take pleasure in the misfortunes of others. It's a karma thing.

I fully expect this to end up like an early-90's Cowboys scenario. Perennial playoff team's best player (Manning/Emmitt) misses first 2 weeks of season (Injury/Holdout), team goes 0-2, player returns for week 3 and team rebounds to win Super Bowl. Maybe the Super Bowl is a slight stretch for Indy but counting them out of the playoffs would be a mistake. Houston's best player is also banged up and questionable.
I'm convinced Peyton's a robot zombie at this point.

I know you better than that. I would love to see both Peyton and Foster play in that first game myself, it would be a much better game. It's tough to peg this whole Peyton thing. I was trying to analyze the actions rather than the words to get a bead on it. Peyton was activated last week so he could really be ready to go, it's not like these teams give us Fantasy football owners accurate injury info.

Sources say that last season 113 starters were listed as doubtful the week of a game and out of those 113 doubtfuls not a single one of them started their game the week they were listed as doubtful. Hmmm! No silver lining there...
