Nothing official other than he is starting the final preseason game. Word is that Anderson will be the starter to start the season. Leinart is pissed and feels he deserves the job.....:duckhunt:too bad his coach doesn't feel the same way.

Anderson taking over.....good or bad news for Fitz, Breaston and co??

For the 3rd time in 4 seasons I've had Leinart on the radar as a potential break-out QB.

For the 3rd time he has not only failed but failed misreably.

To the curb with him!

I've seen little of Anderson in the preseason but dude can pitch. Dunno how smart he is or how well he leads but he can get the ball there.

GOTTA be good news for the WRs.

M.Leinart is lucky to have an NFL contract he will never be anything than a #2-3 QB on a depth chart and has no reason to be pissed.

D.Anderson at least has one decent season with a lot less talent.

New Rumor:

Matt Leinart mave greater worries than whether he starts in Arizona. He might not make the team. ... People in and around the Cardinals ballclub tell me that the former No. 1 pick might be cut, not because he hasn't completed a high percentage of passes -- because he has -- but because the players there have no faith in the guy and don't believe they can win with him. If that is in fact the case, it's over. He not only won't make it as the team's starter; he won't make it, period.

3 teams are rumored to be interested in trading for Leinart: Giants, Raiders, Bills

Fitz benefits from Anderson at the helm, the guy is a leaper, and all Anderson does is toss the rock up for grabs.....

am i the only person who has sympathy for leinart? is it because i don't watch the preseason over here?

so what is his problem exactly? his stats are ok, why does everyone say he sucks so bad? and yes i read the thing about the players above, but why do they feel that way? does anyone know?

Sympathy....nah.....

He got his time in the sun, and is getting paid top dollar to be little more than a backup. I don't feel any sympathy for him at all.

In fact, he likely bounces around for another year or two getting paid for next to nothing before spending a few seasons in NFL-Europe so he can later move into coaching....

Matty-boy is doing just fine....

Anderson did fine in Cleveland with less talent. He'll find his mojo and have a decent year. Off to Buffalo with Leinert. Talk about insult to injury. lol

He had the perfect set of WR's to play "jump-ball" down the field, and those WR's managed to stay healthy, it was exactly what Anderson needed....

He also seems to have a nice set of leapers in Arizona, I think he can have a pretty decent year....

Combination of things.

First he has a ton of off field heat. From his partying crap to late for meetings to big head due to draft slot.

Next, he is not a very good leader, he blames others, and takes no responsibility for his own issues.

Oh, and while accuracy has gotten better, it still sucks. He won't throw deep, and he is stll behind recievers and hanging them out to dry.

Rumors are flying the Cards are trying to deal him away....NO ONE is taking though.

Somebody will grab him and give him a 2nd chance. He's worn out his welcome it seems in Arizona so best thing to do is pack the bags and push a trade deal to happen soon. Of the 3 teams mentioned earlier, If he goes to Buffalo, he'll suck worse. Doesn't have the same quality of WR there. Don't really see NY making any deal for him unless they get him for dirt cheap. And the NY fans would chew him up when they saw him sucking badly. IDK about the Raiders. Why would they want him?

Local sports talk radio suggest he suck it up and sign with the UFL, where he would be the second best QB next to Jeff Garcia.

He has a nice arm and like you say his stats are good. I like Leinart better than most, as for most it is black or white. It is often said that NFL QBs are their to make 6-8 important throws a game. Leinart is great initially in a drive, gets the ball on the 20 and moves the ball well until he gets near mid-field mid-field. Good Job, so far and that's why his stats look ok. This is the point where an NFL starter needs to make those important throws. The field is compressing, WRs are only open for 3-4 yards during their route instead of 5-6. As a QB you might have anticipate a WRs move more and throw the ball on a tight rope to get it there. At this point of field position the runners should be able to grab 5-6 yard chunks but the Cardinals running game is a little light in the loafers category when it comes to this. With Warner this is no problem, he was great enough to throw his way past this.

So, but at this point of field position, this is where the QB earns his pay with those important throws. He makes a couple of key throws keeps the drive going into the red zone. This sets him up to throw 1-2 Tds a game, which is sort of the standard, one Td this week 2 the next. Now great QBs like Peyton/ Brady etc make a dozen of these throws a game and score most likely 2 Tds a game with an occasional 3 Tds a game and a few one Td Games sprinkled in. At this spot on the field it becomes like a double failure. Lienart doesn't make enough of those important key throws and the RBs don't get chunks and set up nice 2nd and 3 situations for positive QBing. I mention this part because Anderson will face this hurdle himself if he runs the O. Lienart doesn't make enough of these throws and the one thing that I have noticed is that he will will take a couple of mind numbing sacks in this situation. It is probably his worst trait and maybe it comes from the big shadow. At mid field he tries too hard and takes a couple of sacks instead of throwing the ball away. He could toss the ball out of bounds, win the battle of field position and live to try again next series. The battle of field position is so very important. You throw a couple of balls away, stay at mid-field and pin your opponents at the ten. Hold em and they kick the ball back and you start on your 40 instead of your ten. But give up a couple of sacks at midfield and your opponents are starting at the 15-20 again. They only have to get a first down or two and you are getting the ball back on your 20 again. There are a lot more 75-80 yard scoring drives than there are 90 yard ones. Losing that ten yards with a sack can really cost you in the long run.
