Rolling The Dice: RB

I don't know about you guys, but I fill my pre-bye weeks bench with as many RBs as I can. Most will be discarded as positional needs develop, but to start the season I want a slew of guys that are 1 injury/suspension away from becoming relevant.

What running backs did you take in the latter rounds and what was the logic behind your choice?

I'll list mine but remember. It's a seven keeper league so picking a guy in the 4th round is more like taking him in the 10th. For comparison purposes, I'll add 6 rounds to my picks so I don't look like a complete idiot.

Devonta Freeman. 9th. Playing behind 30yr old SJax and under achiever Jacquiz Rogers. Should have taken Carlos Hyde with this pick (I have Gore) but thought I could get him later.

LeGarrette Blount 10th. Could have waited on this one but...oh well. The marriage of Blount with the Steelers is just too perfect. Smashmouth baby.

Andre Williams. 11th. Rashad who? C'mon, Williams already getting the goal line work and Rashad has never impressed me anyway. (of course, he WAS a Raider)

Knile Davis. 14th. One Charles injury away from immortality. Had him last year too but we all know how that worked out. Surely Charles can't go TWO seasons uninjured.

James Starks. 18th. Picked before the Dujuan Harris hype started.

Many others out there I would have liked to have. I mentioned Hyde already, James White NE, Jeremy Hill Cin, Chris Polk Phi, Jerick McKinnon Min, Alfred Blue Hou, etc.

Who are your expendable RBs and why did you pick them?

You're just a couple of broke legs away from being legitimate at RB, stacked even.

I don't have any expendables in our league but here are the RB's I drafted after having kept four from last year. Note six rounds added for the reason listed above.

Jeremy Hill. Round 13. My target in both my leagues. Reason is pretty simple really. I've watched this kid at LSU and he's "got it." If he stays healthy and I know how good Bernard is when I say this, Hill will be the lead back there before very long. In a keeper league, if he stays healthy he'll be on my team for years to come.

Benny Cunningham. Round 14. I believe that for this year at least he is the handcuff to Zac Stacy, who I have, and may even jump over Zac in touches.

That's it. That's all of the RB's that I drafted. Being a keeper league I went into the draft with these RB's already on my roster.

Marshawn Lynch
Zac Stacy
Shane Vereen
and Christine Michael

...but come nut cuttin' time, Cunningham IS expendable, assuming Stacy is still the starter.

I'd much prefer to cut a WR than one of my two handcuffs but I guess we'll find out come week 4 when all of my RB's except Vereen are on bye vs the Insane Cow Possee'.

Having Peterson I took Jerick McKinnon, he is behind Asiata on the depth chart but is certainly a better RB. Took Turbin late as i still see him as better all around than Michael.
I think Grimes has a good shot at playing time this year, I don't think Blue is ready just yet. Donald Brown is not a bad choice if you own Mathews. I like Ivory , Blount , and Williams for TD potential. Not big on Davis at all, even if he gets a shot I don't think it will last before they put someone else in.
Cunningham is worth a spot if you can fit him in and wait.

I'm all over Bradshaw, trich continues to look like garbage. Bradshaw is one tough sob, just think it is a matter of time until he takes over like Brown did last year.

Also been higher on Moreno than most this summer and looks like it is paying off.

I agree with a few...
Moreno in Miami will happen, as long as he stays healthy,
Bradshaw in Indy, with same Caveat
I too am a Cunningham fan in St. Louis.
I think Hill in cincy will have an incredible year, especially late in games, when D's are tired.
Not sure in ATL, haven't seen anything that says freeman is the answer.
A.Williams will take over in NYG before end of season.
Said it before, Sankey in Tenn will be a PPR monster.

Carlos Hyde avg 6 ypc this preseason and frank gore is ancient. He'll get work even if frank somehow manages to stay healthy.
