You don't accidently say that word he uses it and thats why he said it at that concert.

But if his teammates forgive him thats fine and sounds like they all have.

And he's only sorry he was caught saying that word.

Yeah but he also got in an altercation at the same venue... And I would think opposition defenses will be looking to knock his block off

Maybe he had just been listening to the local rap station and that word was fresh on his mind.

The words used were 100% wrong, but what led up to that? Do you think he just walked up to whomever was behind the fence and yelled for no reason? Its sad that in our society the person who retaliates is always the one who has to apologize. I am not condoning this, we need to blame the antagonizing act as well.

I agree here, but by all accounts he was drunk and was just spouting off, no story at all of being antagonized.

To me the key is he manned up and admitted it, didn't try to duck it or lie out of it, he admitted it and appologized. He is getting some diversity training to help as well

A drunk, white, wannabe cowboy at a country concert spewing out the "N" word.... Typical Republican round these parts!

The use of that word is always going to be torn apart and dissected anytime someone famous says it in any type of public forum.

What speaks volumes to me is which version of the word he spoke. Like many slang words in the English language, this word has evolved. While it's never socially accepted for anyone white to use any version of it, I think there are varying degrees of serious offenses. The least serious offense would be the version of the word that ends in "ga" which has become the most commonly heard.

That's not the version Riley spoke though. He clearly used the version that ends with an "r". Its a more blunt use, more historically steeped in racism than what you might commonly hear on movies or music.

Just wanted to point that out...

Nikki I wasnt making light of it, he was caught, its never justified. Would it of been any different if he said any other word? He was provoked without question, how do we know that white slurs werent said for him to say that?

For the record it doesnt mean much because I love my wife, she is a black woman and I am a white male, we get looks all the time like its weird, which I dont get, you love who you love.

In any event its wrong, we all need to realize that people are people....if i call you an a**h*l* its not because of your skin color it because i dont particualry care for you. The race card is pulled way to much, sometimes you need to look in the mirror and realize its not because of what you look like, its how you act....

Sorry if that was a bit off topic

I have never judged you. You replied to my post his only remorse was he was caught. You may well be right, I don't think so, but truly we will never know. I just find it a little sad that now a days the expectation is to side its the worst in people.

The guy is trying to make amends and probably niavely I am hoping he means it.

I am sorry you have been called that, I get why you would be mad and hurt by this idiot. I surely don't hope you think I am okay with what he said or has done, I am not. I am hoping admittedly as an Eagles fan, that he is contrite, and sorry
