Jets | Darrelle Revis not expected to hold out Sat Jul 10, 05:10 PM
New York Jets CB Darrelle Revis is not expected to hold out of training camp because he does not want to jeopardize a future guarantee he already has in his present contract, sources have told Michael Lombardi, of NFL Network.

Yes he will
-- Darrelle Revis Prepared to Hold Out Beyond Aug. 10th --
Sat Jul 10, 2010 --from FFMastermind.com
The New York Daily News reports Jets CB Darrelle Revis is fully prepared to sit out if he doesn’t have a reworked deal by the start of training camp, according to sources. Revis isn’t bluffing. The 30-day rule isn’t a concern, either. In other words, Revis will hold out beyond Aug. 10 and risk losing an accrued year toward free agency if there’s no new deal, according to sources. There’s been no progress in the negotiations in the past few weeks.

Jets | Revis can't afford a long holdout Sat Jul 10, 03:43 PM
ProFootballWeekly.com reports Jets CB Darrelle Revis can't afford a lengthy holdout. According to their sources, a prolonged holdout could possibly jeopardize $20 million in guaranteed salary that the Jets would owe Revis if, at the conclusion of the upcoming season, he exercises an option to void the two years remaining on his contract and the Jets buy back the two years for $20 million. That sum would be guaranteed unless a Revis holdout were to void the guarantee.
Our view: This contradicts an earlier report from the New York Daily News which stated Revis was prepared for a long holdout. The Jets already gave a new deal to OT D'Brickshaw Ferguson, and Revis should be the next in line for a big money deal. He's simply the best at his position, and needs to be compensated as such.

I blame this on Favre or George Bush???

Revis isn't the best corner in the game, Asomugha is. Revis is without a doubt the best technician of all corners, but nobody is scared to go after him because he can be burned. Should he be payed? Yeah, but not Asomugha money.

I agree, but you must admit he is blowing a lot of smoke out of his azz. Maybe he is the best chimney in the league? Maybe Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke should give him a sweep where it counts.

rotoworld,
ESPN New York's Rich Cimini confirms that contract talks between the Jets and Darrelle Revis have "stalled," and predicts that the sides will not agree to a restructured deal before the season.

Cimini points out that a "reallocation rule" in the CBA prevents the Jets from offering contract upgrades that are fully guaranteed (for skill AND injury). New York's current proposal is reportedly worth $11-13 million per year, with guarantees against skill OR injury -- not both. Unless Revis does a deal like D'Brickashaw Ferguson's, Cimini considers an extension unlikely.

rotoworld,
Darrelle Revis was not at the Jets' facility Sunday for his physical and conditioning run, a source tells the Newark Star-Ledger.

This is not really a surprise as Revis has already hinted that he's unlikely to play under his current $1 million contract. The two sides are reportedly talking about a new deal that would pay Revis $30 million over the next three seasons, so the "Hard Knocks" cameras may not have a story to follow here for too long. Revis is now subject to $16,000 per day fines for missing camp, although he won't be considered a holdout until 5:30 p.m. EST today.

I have seen the Jets D ranked very high on defense. Always in the top 5 often times as the #1 D. What about without Revis? Drop like a rock? Drop a couple of notches?

FCK Revis. Let his ass sit this season and fine him for every day missed. Bottom line he signed a contract, made a deal to play for the Jets for so many years for so much money. Players should have to play out contracts, no play no pay. How much more do we have to put up with before somebody finally grows some balls in the NFL and makes it rules that rookies have a set amount to sign for depending on drafted order and players have to play out contracts or sit and don't paly and get fined.

rotoworld,
Citing NFL sources, Newsday's Bob Glauber reports that Darrelle Revis is "demanding" $162 million over 10 years from the Jets.

The Jets are reportedly offering as much as $122 million over 10 years. None of these figures mean much without the guaranteed money, but Revis' demands are ridiculous if true. While he's certainly outplayed his rookie contract, he still has three years left on that deal. Based on info from his own sources, Glauber isn't buying Dallas Morning News columnist Tim Cowlishaw's report that a deal is close.
