Colts | Reggie Wayne may not report for start of training camp Sun Jul 18, 01:27 PM Indianapolis Colts WR Reggie Wayne said he wants to be with the team at the start of training camp, but is going to let negotiations with the team play out first, reports Phil Richards, of The Indianapolis Star. Wayne isn't happy with his current six-year, $39 million deal, which has two years remaining. He avoided the team's voluntary OTAs and mandatory minicamp, but that does not mean he won't play during the season even if he doesn't get a new deal.
Our view: Wayne will be well into his thirties by the time his current deal expires and his best years are clearly behind him. The Colts need to give Peyton Manning what will end up being the biggest contract in NFL history, and they are stocked with young talent at WR. We don't like Wayne's chances of getting a new deal, and we have to wonder why he thinks he can.

:wow:
No way they redo his deal, not with Manning getting his done. I hope for their sake Gonzales is healthy, and is back to normal.

Makes Clark even more a target to me....if Wayne holds out.

Geez, I get Chris Johnson back today and now my clear #1 WR in my weak WR core is holding out? Better not pop the celebration brew just yet....

Joe Bryant,
IND - WR Reggie Wayne will not sit out season despite contract situation
Source: Phil Richards - The Indianapolis Star

Indianapolis Colts WR Reggie Wayne is dissatisfied with his contract, a six-year, $39 million deal that has two years remaining with base salaries of $5.47 million this season and $5.95 million in 2011, according to Phil Richards, of The Indianapolis Star. He did not participate in the team's offseason workouts or mandatory minicamp. However, that does not mean Wayne won't play this season, even if he doesn't get a new contract. 'I play football. That's what I do,' Wayne said. 'I love the game. It goes deeper than contract talks; I like doing this. I ain't getting any younger and football is my passion.'

OUR VIEW

Good news for Wayne owners here. That's how we see it playing out too.

JoeBryant,
It appears Indianapolis Colts WR Reggie Wayne will report to training camp with the rest of his team, reports Mike Chappell, of The Indianapolis Star. He said on his website that he is ready to return to the practice field. Wayne, as reported, isn't happy with his contract.

Wayne was foolish to think that he could get a big extension before Peyton Manning gets his.

rotoworld,
Reggie Wayne and Robert Mathis reported on time to Colts training camp Sunday.

Both players skipped voluntary offseason work due to dissatisfaction with their contracts, but aren't going to pull a Darrelle Revis. Wayne, entering his age-32 season, is scheduled for a $5.47 million base salary. Under control through 2011 with a host of promising youngsters behind him on the depth chart, Wayne may be hard pressed for an extension from the Colts at all.

Not in August, no.

In fact, the messages during the season couldn't fill an index card.

Am hoping that that adding you 3 wild and crazy guys will change that.
