Colts | Reggie Wayne may not report for start of training camp Sun Jul 18, 01:27 PM Indianapolis Colts WR Reggie Wayne said he wants to be with the team at the start of training camp, but is going to let negotiations with the team play out first, reports Phil Richards, of The Indianapolis Star. Wayne isn't happy with his current six-year, $39 million deal, which has two years remaining. He avoided the team's voluntary OTAs and mandatory minicamp, but that does not mean he won't play during the season even if he doesn't get a new deal.
Our view: Wayne will be well into his thirties by the time his current deal expires and his best years are clearly behind him. The Colts need to give Peyton Manning what will end up being the biggest contract in NFL history, and they are stocked with young talent at WR. We don't like Wayne's chances of getting a new deal, and we have to wonder why he thinks he can.
