Rebound for Grant??

I believe so. The offense won't slide backwards and the defense can't get worse.

Offensive coordinator Joe Philbin had this to say, "You have a specific purpose for practice, with specific objectives, so you believe guys are going to improve and get better if have the right attitude and put forth the proper effort on the field. All that said, if he's out there and working with the type of work ethic he does have, I would think he's going to be a better player. He should be, and I think it's going to pay big dividends for him, number one, and residually for us, number two."
Our view: Last year, Grant sat out the voluntary OTAs during contract negotiations and missed all of the on-field spring work - plus the first week of training camp. He started off slowly in 2008 because he injured his hamstring and played at less than 100 percent. We'll see if a full offseason of work will help Grant perform better throughout the 2009 season.

This is actually the first year that I've ever felt comfortable taking Grant. Call it a gut feeling but after his great year 2 years ago, I called a bust last year and stayed the hell away from him. This year I would be very excited to have him on my team as a very solid #2 back.

He had 1300 yds and 5 TD's last year. Hardly a bust. Anyone could tell that there would be a dropoff as he held out for a while and then had some injuries in the preseason (hamstring i think) For owners who got him in 3rd-4th rd of drafts he performed quite well.

Ok, you misunderstand me, I never said that he was a bust. I said that I called a bust. That was clearly not the case when looking at his numbers but my point is that like last season, I'm going off of a gut feeling. That is all.

Ahhh.. I think Chris got you there. You just claimed that you predicted a bust in 08 and stayed the hell away. Then Chris went and got those stats!

I agree, I think Greenbay runs more.....following the Chicago model to protect the QB and rest the defense more.

Unfortunitly, I think Grant would have a good year to repeat last years stats. I think Greenbay will take a step back on the Def side with the scheme change to a 3-4. You can't discount that it takes time to get the proper talent in place and everyone to understand their new assignments. Since I think the Def takes a temperary step backwards this year, I think the Packers throw to stay in games.

Grant is a very tough call. I watched him for 4 years at ND. He was never anything special and mostly played second fiddle to Darius Walker. I was shocked as hell to see him work in the offseason following his injury and even more shocked to see him play as well as he did 2 years ago. I'm sure I'll avoid him this year just because I'm not capable of seeing past those 4 years of underachievement in South Bend. If I could be objective, I think I'd still be nervous because we've only seen him for 1 1/2 years and Rogers has had a year to work with Jennings, Driver, Nelson, and Jones. All they need and have ever needed was for Grant to be serviceable so that the WRs can get some fair matchups.
