RB Training Camp Battles to watch

Oh, anyone else notice Best is still not released to practice? Neither is LeShoure I believe. May be more a battle in Detroit for K.Smith or some.

In a recent dynasty (Landry) draft the Best owner got K Smith one pick before the LeShore owner was going to pick him.

Not a training camp battle in the true sense of the term. But Redman may get a couple of early starts.

Steelers RB Rashard Mendenhall, for all of his post-knee surgery optimism, probably won't be ready to start the season. That means Isaac Redman, who has made all of two career starts, will be the starter de jour. The Steelers rarely open a season with such an inexperienced player at such a critical position, yet there seems to be a strong trust factor in Redman among his teammates and management.
Mendy is an interesting guy. Kinda forgotten and written off as a lost season with the bad knee injury he suffered. But if he really will just get PUP'd and see time late in the year, he could be a nice guy to stash for a late season run. Especially is Redman doesn't take full opportunity early.

For all you Matthews lovers....SD just signed Battle as a depth Rb. Not saying he will take carries, but could be used for red-zone and short yardage.

lol, if Battle takes value away from anyone, then they are not the back you think they are anyways. McClain is more of a short yardage threat than Battle. This is simply a depth move.

He's there mainly for special teams, second as a RB, and third to serve as a FB or so the staff chooses to tell us.

Im thinking M.Bush is going to cut into Forte's workload, how mush is meant to be seen

RB battle news from Muds report today:
Peyton Hillis "took turns" with Jamaal Charles as the featured running back as the Chiefs opened training camp on Friday.
I do not think there is going to be a true feature back in KC this season. This is going to be a textbook thunder and lightning situation. Charles owners are not going to like the workload split IMO. Hillis will cut into his carries and receptions.

Stevan Ridley has thus far lined up primarily as the #1 RB in camp for the Pats.
NE RB's tend to get a good amount of TD opportunities so this is an important one to watch.

Mark Ingram's reps are being limeted in the early going at camp.
Never been a fan and have not seen anything from his yet to make me change my mind. There are better backs in NO than Ingram.

I agree with it all Miller but most especially with the better backs in New Orleans. Three of them to be exact, IMO.

Mike Lshoure has suffered a hamstring injury on the second day of training camp. How bad it is has not been announced yet. Initial reports seem to paint it as presumed minor but additional details were promised as they became available.
Kevin Smith is looking more and more like a good flyer to have stashed. I don't think Best or Lashoure will be be able to stay healthy.

Smith hasn't been all that good at it himself but you're right of course that it looks like he'll be the last man standing and not in jail in the Motor City.

he (smith) was staying in shape before getting called up last year... but on his own... now he will have the benefit of nfl facilities and trainers. i wouldn't put too much stock in any lion this year... but you could probably get smith in the much later to last rounds

Shanny again questions Helu's ability to stay healthy. Too much smoke here IMO.
The question is can Hightower even get healthy enough to challenge him? Who knows with Shanny......

Doug Martin is the clear #1 in the early going at the Buc's camp.
Good news for the Bucs rookie. Blount is going to have to show some heart if he's going to get his share this season and that has not been his strength.
