Tough call as many players use Basketball to keep in shape and might not condition enough if they resorted to safer alturnatives.

The average return from a torn Achilles' to play in the NFL has been around 11 months based on a 2006 study.

Well beyond the end of the season and the playoffs. Suggs says he will be back by mid-season but let's see what he says after the surgery.

Suggs is saying that it is only a partial tear and not ripped in to. Still, I'll have to see it and Ravens would have to take a humongous chance to put him on the field this season. The history of players that are re-injured says that they're pretty much done in the league. This isn't one of those things to take a chance with. Get it well Suggs, hang out with Vilma in New Orleans and take it easy.

Hard to really quantify how much this hurts the Ravens D. You have the aging Lewis and Reed in the back who use their savvy and instinct as much as their physical skills to make big plays. But a lot of that is feeding off of mistakes that a pass rusher like Suggs creates in the other teams backfield.
